Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3260
For a long moment, Lorenzo and Jose stood in silence.
The air felt heavy, thick with humiliation and fear.
Finally, Jose gritted his teeth and lowered his voice. “Lorenzo, I have a plan.”
A flicker of venom crossed Lorenzo’s eyes, but when he spoke, his tone was miserable.
“What plan? Mr. Vazquez already looks down on us. Hah… it’s my fault. If I were more capable, he wouldn’t be like this.”
“That’s not our fault!” Jose hissed. “It’s because Andrew is unstoppable now.”
He stepped closer, voice tight.
“Think about it. The Lloyd royal family is insanely powerful. Is that something you or I can handle? And that female martial god beside Andrew—Nyx Kerrigan…”
He shook his head.
“Can you, me, or even Mr. Vazquez honestly say we could beat her?”
He didn’t wait for an answer.
“Look at Chetvine now. The Reyes family has clearly sided with Andrew. The Harding family was forced to submit—they don’t dare move. The Cunningham family? Andrew nearly wiped them out. They’re barely holding on. The Robertson family, just like the Reyes, is completely loyal to Andrew.”
Jose exhaled slowly.
“Mr. Vazquez has no allies left. No one he can command.”
Lorenzo gave a bitter smile. “You think I don’t know that? But Mr. Vazquez trained us. Even if everyone else abandons him, we can’t betray him. We can’t desert him.”
Jose snorted.
“What kind of man do you think I am? I’m not saying this because I’ve turned against him. I’m saying it because we’ve already lost.”
His eyes hardened.
“If we drag this out, we’re just waiting to die. So I plan to advise Mr. Vazquez to flee Chetvine tonight and regroup.”
He continued steadily, “Right now, his only real backing is from the ancient sects—people like Julius. But their powerhouses are far from Chetvine. You can’t put out a fire from another city.”
“We retreat somewhere safe first,” Jose said firmly. “Then we plan our next move.”
Lorenzo sneered inwardly—but nodded.
“You’re right. That’s the only option left. Why don’t you speak to Mr. Vazquez and convince him to leave tonight? I’ll return to the Owens residence and gather my things. At the very least, I need to take my family with me.”
Jose looked at him carefully—then smiled.
“Lorenzo, we’ve served Mr. Vazquez for many years. I know people say I’m not clever. That I just charge in blindly. But I understand more than I let on.”
He paused.
“You go home. Pack up. Take your family. I’m alone in Chetvine—I have nothing to prepare. I’ll persuade Mr. Vazquez. We’ll withdraw together.”
His gaze sharpened slightly.
“Remember—we leave together. We cannot abandon him.”
Lorenzo answered without hesitation. “Don’t worry. I will come. Only in hardship do you see true brotherhood. We’ll stand side by side.”
Covering his swollen face, he staggered away.
Only after Lorenzo disappeared did Jose turn back toward the estate.
A quiet chuckle escaped him.
“Lorenzo… we’ve worked together for so many years. Do you really think I don’t know what schemes you’re hiding?”
His eyes grew calm—almost indifferent.
“I told you before. I’m not just some reckless brute. I see through people.”
He looked toward the darkening sky.
“Once you leave this time, you probably won’t come back. That ‘brotherhood’ you talked about? Just empty words.”
He shrugged lightly.
“But I don’t care.”
His voice softened.
“I’m a martial artist. I don’t like playing games.”
“I follow my own heart—and I repay the debts I owe.”
