Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3259
Trevor’s failure to arrive left Guillermo deeply unsettled.
Inside his private estate, he paced back and forth, each step sharper than the last. With every passing minute, his agitation grew.
Lorenzo watched the clock in silence, a cold realization settling in.
“Mr. Vazquez,” he said carefully, “I don’t think we can keep waiting. You said the Thunder Sect sent a martial god–level elder. If that’s true, entering Chetvine should’ve been effortless. He should’ve arrived long ago. If he hasn’t… something must have gone wrong.”
“Damn it!” Guillermo snapped.
“What could’ve gone wrong? Who could possibly stop someone of Trevor’s strength?”
He stopped pacing, jaw tight.
“Wait a little longer. Without Trevor’s support… I have no confidence in killing Andrew.”
Lorenzo froze.
This was the first time he had ever heard Guillermo speak with doubt.
In the past, Guillermo had seemed capable of anything—like a man who could bend the world to his will. The words “no confidence” felt impossible coming from him. Even if the sky collapsed, Lorenzo would never have expected to hear that.
A strange conflict stirred inside him.
Watching Guillermo pace again, hands clasped behind his back, Lorenzo suddenly felt as if a veil had been lifted. He had always viewed Guillermo as omnipotent—an untouchable storm-bringer.
Now he saw something else.
A man.
A man who could feel helpless. A man who could grind his teeth in frustration and still be powerless.
For the first time, Lorenzo considered something he had never dared to before.
If following Guillermo truly led to ruin… what would he do?
His gaze darkened as he quietly began calculating a way out.
“Mr. Vazquez, something’s happened!”
Jose burst into the room, panic written all over his face.
Guillermo spun around. “What is it? Speak! Was Trevor intercepted by the Lloyd royal family? Forced to retreat?”
Jose gave a strained, bitter smile—and shook his head.
Guillermo exploded.
“Well? Say it! What the hell does shaking your head mean? You useless fools! Every single one of you is worthless!”
The sudden fury stunned both Jose and Lorenzo.
Guillermo had lost his temper before, but never like this. His expression was savage, as if he wanted to devour them alive.
An indescribable fear gripped them both.
Jose stammered, “M-Mr. Vazquez… Elder Trevor wasn’t forced back. He wasn’t surrounded. He… he was killed. His body is outside Chetvine. I didn’t see it myself, but it was likely the Lloyd royal family.”
Guillermo staggered forward, nearly losing his balance.
The blood drained from his face—then rushed back violently, twisting his features into something grotesque.
It’s over.
Trevor was dead.
The martial god from the Thunder Sect—the reinforcement he had placed all his hopes on—had been killed just like that.
Guillermo didn’t feel as if his heart had fallen into an abyss.
It felt as though it had shot upward and smashed against his skull.
“Mr. Vazquez…” Lorenzo ventured cautiously.
“Get out!” Guillermo roared. “Get the hell out! Useless cowards! Not one of you is worth anything!”
He swung his arm violently.
The slap landed squarely across Lorenzo’s face.
The crack echoed through the room.
Jose’s eyelids trembled.
Lorenzo spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the floor.
“Mr. Vazquez, please! Forgive me—please spare me!”
Guillermo’s face remained contorted with rage. He shot them both a vicious glare—then turned and walked away without another word.
