Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3256
“Get out of my way! I’ll kill anyone who blocks me!”
At Chetvine’s southern gate, a fearsome old man stormed in from the direction of the Sylvan Peaks, rage rolling off him like wildfire. His eyes were wide, burning with fury as he charged straight toward the city.
Five hundred figures stood in his path.
They were arranged in a perfect square formation, blades drawn in unison, every gaze cold and unwavering. At their head stood Clarence Burnham—a lieutenant general, a martial god in strength, Philip’s right-hand man, and one of the fastest-rising generals in all of Holtrien.
Behind Clarence stood Luna and Valerie.
Clarence lowered his visor, his voice calm and steady. “Grand Elder Orson, Chetvine is unstable right now. Please control yourself and return to the Sylvan Peaks.”
The saber in his hands was massive—far wider and thicker than standard issue. By weight alone, it was close to two hundred pounds.
The wild-bearded elder standing opposite him was Orson, Grand Elder of the Nieves family from the Sylvan Peaks.
He drew his energy deep into his core and roared, “Get lost! If I don’t kill Andrew with my own hands, I’m not worthy of being called a legend of the Sylvan Peaks. He insulted my family. How could I let that stand?”
Clarence’s eyes turned icy. “Grand Elder Orson, the military has no interest in the dispute between the Nieves family and Andrew. I’m simply following orders. At this moment, Chetvine is not open to you.”
Orson sneered. “Since when is Chetvine the military’s private property? It belongs to the people of Holtrien. Philip wants to stop me just to protect that brat.”
He let out a low chuckle. “I’ve traveled thousands of miles without stopping. Do you really think I’d turn back empty-handed?”
Clarence replied evenly, “General Turman anticipated your temper. He instructed us to be… exceedingly courteous.”
Orson spat, “Courteous? Don’t insult me. I know Philip’s temperament too well. Fine. Let’s settle this with our fists. They say the military’s battle formations are unmatched.”
His aura surged violently.
“Today, I’ll see for myself.”
With a thunderous roar, Orson’s massive frame seemed to swell as his energy exploded outward. His hair and beard lashed in the wind as he leaped more than thirty feet into the air and crashed straight into Clarence’s formation.
“Spread out!” Clarence ordered instantly.
The five hundred soldiers moved as one. They split apart in flawless rhythm, advancing and retreating without a hint of chaos.
Clarence raised his heavy saber and faced Orson directly, letting out a sharp laugh. “Grand Elder Orson, allow me to test your legendary strength.”
Orson’s voice turned cold. “I’ll ask you one last thing. Just one.
“The military is going this far for that brat Andrew—even pointing blades at your own countrymen. Is he really worth it?”
Clarence narrowed his eyes, staring at Orson along the edge of his blade. His reply was steady and absolute.
“He’s worth it.”
He continued, his voice rising.
“Once, Andrew was one of us. If you don’t believe me, ask the men standing behind me.
“Ask them how many times Andrew dragged them back from the brink on the battlefield. How many times, when they were about to break, Andrew was still fighting alone to turn the tide.”
His grip tightened on the saber.
“Every single one of them would trust Andrew without hesitation.
“And now, Andrew can trust us the same way.”
Orson’s fury intensified. His blazing gaze swept across the ranks.
Under rows of armor stood nothing but iron resolve.
The military’s warriors were not part of the martial world. Yes, they were martial artists—but those in the martial world could scheme and betray. The soldiers of the military trusted only their comrades. Beyond that, they trusted no one.
That was why they were fit to guard the nation.
Even in Orson’s eyes, earning the loyalty of such proud warriors was no small feat.
And yet, the identical resolve in those five hundred stares proved Clarence spoke the truth.
They were fighting for Andrew.
Without hesitation.
Even against a martial god like Orson.
Orson understood then—this trip to Chetvine would be anything but simple.
But his temper burned like an untamed blaze.
So instead of retreating, he charged straight into the storm.
The battle erupted without another word.
