Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3254
Guillermo’s face twisted with fury, his teeth grinding audibly. “Are you threatening me? Don’t forget—the Hearst family’s interests in Chetvine still depend on me.”
The voice on the other end erupted.
“Shut up, you old bastard! Others may give you face, but the Hearst family doesn’t need to bow to you. Let me make this clear one more time—if anything happens to Patriarch Pablo in Chetvine, you won’t walk away from it.
“Because of your personal feud with Andrew, our family already showed you more courtesy than you deserved. We even helped you. And now you’re telling me Patriarch Pablo ran into ‘trouble’ in Chetvine?”
He scoffed coldly. “Spare me the official talk, Mr. Vazquez. I can already guess what you mean by ‘trouble.’ I’m heading to the Lloyd family right now to see Patriarch Pablo in person. If he can’t be found…”
His voice dropped to a deadly whisper.
“Chetvine will run red with blood.”
Guillermo’s expression turned livid. He had never expected such blatant disrespect—being called an old bastard to his face. He was still Holtrien’s National Advisor, the public face of the nation.
And yet the Hearst family showed him open contempt.
In the past, Guillermo would have made that man pay dearly. At the very least, he would have forced him to kneel, apologize, and sever one of his own arms. That level of respect, he believed, even the Hearsts of the Hearstlands would have granted him.
But things were different now.
Since Andrew’s return to Chetvine and his relentless pressure, Guillermo’s influence had steadily eroded. Factions that once clung to him were quietly distancing themselves. The untouchable National Advisor was no longer untouchable.
Guillermo slammed his fist onto the table. “Damn it!”
For the first time, he regretted inviting Pablo to Chetvine. Andrew had plunged himself into disaster—but Guillermo wouldn’t come out clean either.
Lorenzo, standing nearby and seeing the darkness in Guillermo’s face, spoke cautiously. “Mr. Vazquez, we should tell them the truth. After all, Andrew killed Pablo. The Hearst family’s fury will be aimed at the Lloyd family.”
He paused, then added, “You might still be implicated, but they won’t completely turn against us.”
Guillermo’s jaw tightened. His face was shadowed, unreadable. After a long silence, he growled, “Do it. Report Patriarch Pablo’s situation to the Hearstlands immediately. Let them decide what to do.”
His eyes burned with hatred.
“That little bastard has truly cornered me. But if I’m going down, he’s going down harder. He has to die.”
“Yes,” Lorenzo said quickly. “He must die. And there’s only one way for you to fully clear yourself now—kill Andrew first.
“If we do that, the Hearst family’s rage will be partially satisfied. Their patriarch is dead, but you would’ve avenged him. No matter how much they blame us, they’ll calm down at least a little.”
Guillermo considered the idea carefully. Slowly, a vicious smile curled across his lips.
“Lorenzo… you’ve grown. My anger clouded my judgment earlier. I didn’t think of that.”
His voice turned cold.
“You’re right. The best way to avoid responsibility is to strike first. If I kill Andrew, even if the Hearst family wants to hold me accountable, they’ll have to think twice.”
Lorenzo’s eyes gleamed. “Then what’s your move, Mr. Vazquez?”
Guillermo gave him a mysterious, sinister smile. “No rush. The person I’m waiting for should be arriving in Chetvine soon.”
Lorenzo kept his expression neutral, but suspicion stirred in his mind.
Orson? No. The military had already mobilized—clearly to intercept him.
So it wasn’t Orson.
Maybe Julius, the sect leader of the Divine Alchemists.
Or someone else entirely.
Lorenzo couldn’t tell. These days, Guillermo no longer shared everything with him.
