Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3229
Andrew’s voice was cold. “I lost patience with these people a long time ago. I don’t care what they think of me. I have one goal—help Holtrien survive the catastrophe that’s coming.”
“A small Sovereign’s Apothecary means nothing. If we can’t withstand the ancient dark forces from the West—if the Vampire Queen crushes Holtrien’s martial legacy—then that will be the true disaster.”
Amari nodded firmly. “Understood. I’ll follow your lead without question.”
At that moment, Theon rushed over and dropped to his knees before Andrew.
“Mr. Lloyd, please let Medicine God’s Covenant take me in. I’ll give everything—even my life—to serve you.”
Andrew waved him off. “I don’t need opportunists. Leave. I may not like you, but I won’t kill you either.”
Theon wailed, “I’ve devoted my entire life to alchemy. Now that Sovereign’s Apothecary is gone, where am I supposed to go?”
Amari scoffed angrily. “Don’t pretend this is about alchemy. What you care about is the wealth and status the Divine Alchemists gave you. Now that Sovereign’s Apothecary is gone, you’ll have to live off your savings. That’s what scares you.”
Theon’s face flushed red. He wanted to argue—but Amari had exposed him completely.
Brielle spoke coldly. “Theon values fame and fortune more than the art itself. Taking him in would only create trouble. He would be a liability.”
Andrew smiled faintly. “Then we’ll do as Madam Baxter suggests. Theon, you’ve heard her. Your reputation has followed you for decades. No one else is to blame.”
Theon’s beard trembled as he ground his teeth in humiliation. In the end, he turned and walked out of Sovereign’s Apothecary.
From that moment on, Medicine God’s Covenant stood alone at the top in Chetvine. And wherever Theon went, no one would dare take him in.
Swallowing his pride, he called his prized disciple, Mikayla.
“Mikayla… I have nowhere to go. Let me stay with your family. Give me a place.”
Her voice trembled on the other end. “Mr. Orben… you were expelled? Does that mean Sovereign’s Apothecary has already been…”
Theon hissed bitterly, “That’s right. Andrew destroyed it. It’s finished.”
Mikayla gasped. Sovereign’s Apothecary had been one of the Owens family’s greatest pillars, backed by the mighty Divine Alchemists. And now it was gone. One by one, the supports holding the Owens family upright in Chetvine were collapsing.
After a pause, she asked quietly, “How did Andrew treat you?”
“How else?” Theon spat. “He told me to get out of Chetvine and refused to take me in. That little bastard will pay for this one day.”
Mikayla exhaled slowly. When she spoke again, her tone was distant—almost unfamiliar.
“Then there’s nothing we can do. The Owens family can’t shelter you either. Where you go next is up to you.”
Theon froze. “Why? Even you look down on me now? I can still refine pills. I can help the Owens family rise again. Do you understand that?”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Orben,” she replied evenly. “If Andrew doesn’t allow you to stay in Chetvine, then no matter how capable you are, we won’t risk defying him. We can barely protect ourselves as it is. We won’t provoke him further. Please… take care of yourself.”
The line went dead.
Theon stood there, his vision dimming. In that moment, he understood—he had no one left.
Everyone who once surrounded him had been fair-weather allies. When he stood at the top, they clung to him. Now that he had fallen, they all turned away.
His heart felt hollow.
Like a discarded old scavenger, Theon gathered what little he had left and left Chetvine.
He considered returning to the Divine Alchemists. But Andrew had already declared war. Going back now would only drag him into a conflict he might not survive.
With no other path forward, he chose to drift—wherever fate decided to take him.
