Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3208
The first to step out was Sheena.
Her expression was glacial as she walked straight toward Kelvin, stopping only a few feet away.
“Mr. Nieves,” she said coolly, “it’s early in the morning. Go on—repeat what you just said.”
Kelvin placed his hands on his hips, adjusted his suit jacket, and chuckled.
“One of the twin jewels of the Lloyd royal family… the captivating Ms. Sheena Lloyd.” His tone was half-mocking, half-flirtatious. “Your aura truly is intimidating. I’m just a crude man—I don’t see anything wrong with what I said.”
He smirked.
“I simply want Patriarch Donovan to come out and give me an explanation. Unless…” His eyes narrowed slightly. “You think I’m the one in the wrong?”
Sheena didn’t waste another word.
Her leg snapped up in a vicious arc.
The kick landed squarely against Kelvin’s torso.
He didn’t dodge.
He didn’t block.
He took the blow head-on and was sent flying several yards before crashing to the ground in a cloud of dust.
A few seconds later, he climbed back to his feet, clothes rumpled, lips bloodied.
His two attendants rushed forward in alarm.
“Mr. Nieves, are you alright?”
Kelvin laughed savagely and waved them back. He strode forward again, stopping before Sheena as if nothing had happened.
“Go ahead,” he said boldly. “Hit me again. I won’t fight back.”
His voice rose deliberately.
“If the Lloyd family has the guts, then abuse your power and beat me to death right here.”
He spread his arms.
“If I retaliate even once, I’m not human—I’m a son of a bitch.”
The infamous madman of Sylvan Peaks had turned into a shameless street rogue.
Sheena’s eyes glinted coldly.
“You think I wouldn’t dare kill you?” she sneered. “I held back because you’re technically a generation above me.”
Her aura surged.
“But you dared insult my grandfather.”
Her hand moved toward his neck.
“If I kill you, and your family seeks justice, I’ll face them anytime.”
She meant it.
Her fingers tightened, ready to twist.
“Sheena, stop!”
A sharp command cut through the air.
Donovan emerged, flanked by several senior department heads.
Kelvin spat out a mouthful of blood and immediately straightened, adopting a respectful posture.
“Patriarch Donovan,” he said with exaggerated courtesy, “what an honor.”
Donovan chuckled faintly.
“Well, well. The Nieves family of Sylvan Peaks truly produces remarkable figures every generation.”
His eyes sharpened.
“It’s been many years since someone dared challenge me—let alone call me old.”
He smiled thinly.
“You’re right. I am an old fossil. So tell me—shall you bury me today?”
Kelvin’s face paled instantly.
“Patriarch Donovan, my earlier words were spoken in anger,” he said quickly. “I acted impulsively. I apologize. My loose tongue deserves punishment.”
As he spoke, he raised his hand and slapped himself twice, hard enough to make the sound ring out.
Donovan shook his head with faint amusement.
“This little performance is meaningless.”
His tone remained even, but the pressure in the air subtly increased.
“You’re standing at the main gate of the Lloyd estate, acting humble and harmless. You know very well that the Lloyd family cannot easily act against you here.”
He added pointedly, “The royal families of Chetvine have countless eyes watching. Even if we truly wished to eliminate you, we would have to weigh the consequences.”
His gaze locked onto Kelvin’s.
“That’s what you were counting on, wasn’t it?”
Kelvin laughed heartily, utterly shameless.
“Patriarch, how could you say that?” he grinned. “Even if I were thinking that, you didn’t have to say it aloud.”
He tilted his head slightly.
“But I suppose… I bet correctly, didn’t I?”
There was not a trace of genuine remorse in his expression.
Donovan regarded him coolly.
“You came here because of Andrew, didn’t you?”
Kelvin’s grin widened, revealing bright white teeth.
“That’s right.”
His voice turned sharp.
“It concerns your Lloyd family’s precious Dragon Prince.”
He paused, eyes glinting with hostility.
“He beat my nephew, Skylar, to death.”
