Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3205

The top floor of the building housed Philip’s private office, guarded around the clock.

When Guillermo arrived without warning, the guard at the door stiffened. “Mr. Vazquez—”

Guillermo shoved him aside and kicked the door open.

Striding in, he thundered, “Philip, I’m here to ask you something. Are you truly determined to let Andrew—that little bastard—run wild and throw Chetvine into chaos?”

Jose had followed behind at first, eager to witness the confrontation. But the moment he sensed the tension tipping toward violence, he wisely retreated.

The two men inside were the most powerful figures in Holtrien. If they came to blows, anyone caught in between would be crushed. Whichever side he chose, his fate would be sealed.

The door slammed shut with a heavy bang.

Jose remained outside, stiff and uneasy. It was clear the men inside had no intention of letting anyone overhear what was about to unfold.

Inside, Philip calmly set down his teacup.

“What a temper,” he said lightly. “What are you planning to do—kill me?”

Guillermo let out a cold sneer. “Kill the illustrious General of Holtrien? I wouldn’t dare. But what about Andrew? Aren’t you going to do anything about him?”

Philip laughed softly, though there was no warmth in it.

“Do anything? Guillermo, listen to yourself. Does that even sound reasonable? If you want something done, handle it yourself. I know exactly where Andrew is right now. Shall I give you his location so you can settle it personally?”

Guillermo’s face twisted with fury. “You think I’m afraid of Andrew? If this weren’t Chetvine, I would have killed him long ago.”

Philip waved a dismissive hand. “Your era of bluffing is over.”

    His gaze sharpened.

“Ever since you let Reginald and Andrew slip overseas, your chessboard has been full of holes. You’ve been playing a losing game ever since.”

He continued coolly, “Before, our roles were separate. You handled domestic politics; I dealt with international affairs. Your schemes were beyond my reach. But now? You’ve lost. Completely.”

The word “lost” struck Guillermo like a live wire.

His face contorted, veins bulging across his forehead and neck, making him look almost monstrous.

“Lost?” he roared. “You’re talking nonsense! I will never lose!”

    His breathing grew ragged.

“Reginald was the greatest mistake I ever made. So what? Isn’t he still trapped in a dead end because of a woman and his own weakness? The Veiled Paradise is practically a grave. Whether he lives or dies doesn’t even matter anymore!”

    He sneered.

“And Andrew? What does he have to fight me with? A lucky encounter in the Outlands? I’m no small fry. So what if he came back? So what if he broke the seal on the energy core?”

    His voice rose.

“The forces behind me represent half of Holtrien. Half! What does he have to compete with that? Tell me!”

As Guillermo ranted, nearly frothing with fury, Philip lifted a hand and wiped his cheek.

“Easy,” he said dryly. “You’re spraying spit all over my face.”

Then his tone shifted—still calm, but edged with steel.

“Yes, Andrew is young. Yes, you have half of Holtrien behind you—countless vested interests, powerful backers who won’t allow anything to happen to their spokesperson.”

Guillermo’s eyes burned. “You think I’m joking?”

“I know you’re not,” Philip replied coldly. “And neither am I.”

    His gaze locked onto Guillermo’s.

“Stop fighting Andrew. This is my final warning. If you continue—”

His voice dropped to a deadly quiet.

    “—you will die.”

For a split second, the room fell into suffocating silence.

    Then Guillermo narrowed his eyes.

A moment later, he burst into wild laughter, as though Philip had just delivered the most absurd joke he had ever heard.
