Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3193
Andrew asked, “Where are Eric and Mr. Thornton?”
Brielle smiled. “They’ve been training at the Martial Tower long-term. Ever since what happened to you two years ago, Eric has thrown himself completely into martial cultivation.”
Andrew smiled faintly. “That’s rare for that guy. Still, it’s a good thing.”
Brielle hesitated, then said a little awkwardly, “Andrew, give me a moment. I’m going to change my veil. This one got wet.”
Andrew replied with a smile, not thinking much of it. “Madam Baxter, there’s no need. There’s no one else here anyway.”
Then, half in jest, he added, “Why don’t you just take it off and let me see what you really look like? We’ve known each other for so many years, yet I’ve never actually seen your face.”
The words were meant as teasing banter—nothing more.
Yet the moment Brielle heard them, her face flushed a deep red, the color spreading even to her neck. She lowered her head slightly and muttered in embarrassment, “You little brat… do you really—really—want to know what I look like?”
Andrew answered frankly, “Why not? You’re Eric’s mother, and we’re close friends. Of course I want to know what you look like.”
Brielle’s eyes darted away, her thoughts in turmoil. After a long pause, she slowly reached up and untied her veil, speaking softly, “Alright. There’s no one here, so I’ll show you.”
Then she added quietly, “But Andrew, you’d better be careful. Anyone who sees my true face has to take responsibility.”
Andrew blinked, confused. “Take responsibility? What kind of responsibility?”
Brielle’s eyes gleamed with playful light as she smiled. “When I first put on this veil, I made a vow to myself. From that day on, if any man ever saw my true face…”
She paused deliberately.
“Either his eyes would be gouged out and he’d be blinded completely—or he would become the man I love most in this life.”
She tilted her head slightly. “So, are you still sure you want to see my real face?”
Meeting her teasing gaze, Andrew honestly felt like backing down for a moment.
It wasn’t that he was afraid of going blind—Brielle didn’t have the strength to do such a thing. But the second option made his scalp prickle. There had already been a subtle spark between them just now. With this added twist, what exactly was this alluring, mature woman implying?
Seeing his hesitation, Brielle let out a soft chuckle. “It seems even someone as impressive as you can be a little timid. If that’s the case, I won’t force you.”
Andrew laughed. “Madam Baxter, please allow me to witness your heavenly beauty. I may lack many things, but courage isn’t one of them.”
Her cheeks flushed, her eyes shimmering. After a brief silence, Brielle gracefully lifted her veil.
An exquisite, fair, and enchanting face was revealed before him.
Andrew glanced at her—then quickly looked away with a smile. “Indeed, a stunning beauty. It seems time has left no trace on you.”
He straightened. “I just remembered I have something to attend to. I should get going.”
Before he could turn around, Brielle snorted softly in laughter. “You think you can just look and leave, Andrew? Did you really think my words earlier were a joke? Sorry—but you have to take responsibility now.”
Andrew’s eyelids twitched, his heart sinking.
Damn it… she’s serious.
The look in her eyes and the amorous flush on her face were unmistakably dangerous. Yet this was Eric’s mother. What could he possibly do?
Before he could react, Brielle leaned in closer.
For the first time, the King of the Wastelands—who could casually defeat martial gods—felt genuine panic rising in his chest.
Truly, among all the poisons in the world, the most lethal was an alluring, mature woman.
