Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3182
Lorenzo shook his head. Jose had started running his mouth again.
His recent surge in strength was one thing; Guillermo’s blatant favoritism was another. But this—this was getting out of hand.
Pointing toward the front door, Guillermo said coldly, “Get out. Now. I don’t want to see you.”
Jose chuckled. “Alright.”
And just like that, he actually left.
Guillermo turned to Lorenzo. “Jose is careless and lazy. Other than fighting, he’s useless at everything else. You’re different. You’re the man I trust most. Something serious has clearly happened to Alfredo.”
His gaze hardened. “But that bastard refuses to say a word. So I need you to personally go to the Eastern Regions. I want to know exactly what kind of force Andrew brought back with him—and what his true strength is now.”
Lorenzo instinctively touched the empty sleeve where his arm had once been. Hatred seeped into his voice. “Mr. Vazquez, I’ll leave immediately. He cut off my hand back then. I haven’t forgotten.”
Guillermo nodded and was about to respond when his phone rang again.
His expression brightened. He thought it was Alfredo calling back.
But when he glanced at the screen, his face darkened. An unknown number.
Guillermo shot Lorenzo a look.
Lorenzo stepped forward at once and answered. “This is Mr. Vazquez’s residence. Who is this? Who are you trying to reach?”
Andrew’s voice came through the line—cold, distant, razor-sharp.
“You’re not Guillermo. Then you must be his lapdog—Lorenzo.”
Lorenzo stiffened.
“There’s no need for you to waste time investigating my strength or how many people I brought back,” Andrew continued flatly. “I brought only one person. I’ll be landing in Chetvine in three hours. Anyone who has a problem with that can come find me at the airport.”
A brief pause.
“Just remember to bring your coffins.”
The call ended.
Lorenzo’s palm was slick with sweat as he turned to Guillermo. “Mr. Vazquez… it was—”
“I know,” Guillermo snarled. “It was him. That little bastard.”
He slammed his fist down. “He hasn’t even arrived, and he’s already threatening me directly. Looks like he really does have something to rely on.”
“Then we’ll meet him head-on,” Lorenzo said through clenched teeth. “This is Chetvine. Half the city is under your control. Are we really supposed to fear him?”
“Fear him?” Guillermo snorted. “When have you ever seen me afraid of anyone?”
His expression twisted with fury. “What frustrates me is that old bastard Wyrmhelm failed to deal with him. If that kid had died in the Outlands, it would’ve saved me a lot of trouble.”
“Lorenzo!” he barked.
“At your service, Mr. Vazquez!”
“Should we mobilize our forces in Chetvine,” Lorenzo asked, “or contact the other families?”
Guillermo waved a hand dismissively. “Rules are rules. Chetvine cannot be thrown into chaos. No one dares break that rule.”
His eyes narrowed. “But a small test is necessary.”
A cruel smile surfaced. “Jose is itching for action, isn’t he? Send him to the airport to welcome Andrew properly. Let him test the waters and see what we’re dealing with.”
“If things go south, tell him to withdraw and lie low,” Guillermo continued. “But if Andrew seems manageable—have him deliver a fatal blow if possible.”
He sneered. “If Jose kills him, even better. I’ll guarantee his safe escape from Holtrien.”
Lorenzo grinned wickedly. “Understood.”
After Lorenzo left, Guillermo immediately began contacting his allies.
The first call went to Julius.
Guillermo’s voice was sharp with mockery. “Julius, you’ve been living quite comfortably these past two years, haven’t you?”
A pause.
“Then let me give you some news.”
His eyes gleamed coldly.
“Andrew is back.”
