Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3156
With a sharp shout, Iridessa suddenly twisted her body, choosing the most decisive—and most desperate—option: to strike without hesitation.
Andrew had already restrained her arm. Under normal circumstances, that movement should have snapped it instantly. Yet at that very moment, the grotesque nature of Eastonia’s covert arts revealed itself. Iridessa’s arm bent a full three hundred and sixty degrees into a terrifying arc—unnatural, bone-twisting, but unbroken.
She opened her mouth and lunged straight for Andrew’s neck.
For an instant, Andrew wondered if she was some kind of vampire. But she had no fangs.
With a cold snort, he allowed her to bite down.
Energy surged violently through his palm and poured into her body like a flood. In a single breath, her meridians were completely sealed. Iridessa gasped once and collapsed to the floor, her body going limp.
As her strength drained away, the disguise she had so carefully maintained began to fade. Andrew watched in surprise as her appearance shifted. When it was over, the woman before him was no longer “Nyx,” but a young girl with straight bangs, large eyes, and a delicate, refined face.
“Just kill me.”
Iridessa turned her head away, despair heavy in her voice.
Andrew wiped at the place where she had bitten him.
Not even the outer layer of his skin had broken. It only itched slightly.
Seeing this, Iridessa’s smile grew even more bitter.
A top-tier covert artist could turn their body into a weapon. Their teeth were sharper than blades—hers especially so. From childhood, her training had been brutal beyond imagination. She had been forced to bite through steel blades. Failure meant punishment without mercy.
Yet now, those steel-crushing teeth hadn’t even pierced Andrew’s skin.
So what had this assassination been worth?
Andrew grabbed her chin without any gentleness. Pain shot through her jaw as tears welled in her eyes, mingling with stubborn defiance.
“You’ve got nerve,” he said coldly. “I already allowed you and your brother to stay in Throne City. That was more than enough respect for Vance. I didn’t expect you to dare something like this.”
“If you want to kill me, then kill me,” Iridessa shot back. “Why waste words?”
Andrew sneered. “Vance sent you, didn’t he?”
Iridessa gave a cold snort. “If I said no, would you believe me?”
She lifted her head slightly, her voice hard. “Andrew, you are Eastonia’s greatest enemy. I volunteered to die for my country.”
Andrew scoffed. “Idiot. ‘Dying for your country’—those words are too heavy for you. You’re just clinging to a noble excuse to comfort yourself after failing.”
“You’re lying!” Iridessa exploded. “You are Eastonia’s greatest enemy! Killing you means eliminating future threats to Eastonia!”
Andrew slapped her across the face without hesitation.
Blood spilled from the corner of her mouth. Iridessa closed her eyes, silently waiting for death.
At that moment, Nyx was stirred awake by the noise.
When she saw Iridessa, all traces of sleep vanished. Her expression turned instantly cold. “So she really came here to make a move.” She glanced at Andrew. “Honey, let me kill her.”
Nyx had never been soft-hearted. With a casual motion, a dagger formed from blue light in her hand as she stepped forward, aiming for Iridessa’s throat.
“Wait,” Andrew said.
Nyx looked at him suspiciously. “Honey, what are you trying to do? Don’t tell me you want to play with her before she dies. I won’t allow it.”
Andrew rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. “What are you thinking?”
He sighed. “Do I look that desperate? She’s ruthless and dangerous. I have no interest in her.”
Iridessa had already accepted death, but those words ignited fury in her chest.
Just moments ago, this bastard had invaded her body and treated her so brutally—and now he claimed he had no interest at all?
Andrew only let out a cold laugh, utterly indifferent to what she felt. Since she had tried to kill him, nothing he said or did seemed excessive to him.
But as he watched tears spill from Iridessa’s eyes in uncontrollable streams, he noticed how hard she was trying to appear fearless.
She was terrified—and shattered.
For just a brief moment, her face overlapped with someone from Andrew’s past.
“What is your relationship with Eastonia’s Imperial Consort, Chiara Agliate?” he asked quietly.
Iridessa’s tears surged even more violently. She suddenly screamed, “You pervert! Don’t you dare mention my mother’s name!”
Andrew’s eyes narrowed.
“So you’re her daughter,” he said slowly. “No wonder you look somewhat similar.” He exhaled softly. “If that’s the case… I suppose I can’t bring myself to kill you outright.”
