Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3113

Knox grinned. “I don’t know if I’m really a man or not. But Andrew—he’s the real deal!”

Nyx rolled her eyes. “Don’t even try to compare yourself to him. He was already fighting on battlefields when we were still living carefree lives.”

Before the formation of five thousand warriors, Othniel bowed deeply to Andrew as he approached.

“Mr. Lloyd, I’m entrusting our five thousand Highland warriors to you,” he said. “The Highland Tribe isn’t good at expressing emotion, but Chief Wieser, myself, and the other elders share one hope—that you will treat them well.”

Andrew returned the bow solemnly. “I will treat them as my own brothers.”

Othniel’s eyes reddened. The iron-willed man quickly turned away and returned to stand before the warriors.

Andrew would lead the Highland warriors in a lightning raid against Kaelan’s werewolf forces, plunging the already chaotic Wastelands into even deeper turmoil. Othniel would serve as commander of the five thousand warriors and lead them into battle, while Knox took over Othniel’s former duties—managing tribal affairs and preparing to assume the role of the next chief.

Taking a deep breath, Andrew faced the five thousand Highland warriors.

This scene was not unfamiliar to him. Once, he had commanded elite soldiers—brothers who had fought beside him through life and death. Though the numbers back then had been smaller, the nature of it was the same. And today, after years of fighting alone, another force had been placed into his hands.

The Highland warriors were people of honor and loyalty. And precisely because of that, leading them—men burdened by pain and loss—into battle filled Andrew with sympathy and reluctance.

But this was life. It spared no one.

“I will lead you forward,” Andrew said, his voice calm but unwavering, “through smoke and fire, straight into the enemy’s fangs and savagery.”

His voice was not loud, yet every warrior heard it clearly.

“When it’s over—when this war finally ends—you will return to your loved ones and step into an era of peace. Let us fight for our families, our homes, and those we must protect!”

“Fight until the end of time—until the edge of the world!”

As his final words fell, his voice surged like thunder rolling across the land. Andrew raised his greatsword, its blade roaring as a beam of light shot straight into the sky.

The suppressed will and boiling blood within every Highland warrior ignited instantly.

A unified, violent roar exploded outward.

“Kill! Until the end of the world!”

“Until the end of the world!”

The echo rolled endlessly across the plains.

With Andrew’s sword pointing forward, the five thousand Highland warriors turned in unison and surged into motion, advancing rapidly toward the western outskirts of Abyss City—where Kaelan’s werewolf forces awaited.

Tobiah covered his face and wept, comforted and heartbroken all at once.

The Highland Tribe had not ridden freely across the Wastelands for countless years. Freedom was beautiful—sweet beyond words. Yet when its price was paid in blood and lives, its taste became bitter.

Still, for freedom and for the future of the Highland Tribe, every sacrifice was worth it.

At the very least, at the brink of extinction, the tribe had finally seen a glimmer of hope.

That hope was the man charging at the very front—the one who came from the Wastelands and from the distant land of Holtrien.

    His name was Andrew Lloyd.

At the very end, Nyx spoke softly. “Knox, I’m leaving too. I’m going with him. Take care of yourself. We’ll meet again in Abyss City.”

Knox nodded heavily. “Go, Nyx. Following him is the right choice.”

Nyx smiled gently and pulled the mask beneath her black cloak up over her face. She didn’t know whether the path ahead was right or wrong.

    She only knew one thing—

    She would never regret it.
