Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3110
Tobiah spoke in a low voice. “Knox, you have no right to speak. Step down.”
Knox, however, stood firmly at the center of the hall. His jaw tightened, and he did not move.
An elder of the Highland Tribe scolded him harshly. “You insolent brat. The Highland Tribe has taken root here for hundreds of years. Haven’t we migrated and fled enough already? We were driven here from the Wastelands in the first place—and now you want us to go back? Knox, I think you’re simply foolish.”
Knox shot back without hesitation. “Sir, I think you’re wrong. It’s precisely because our tribe has never had a stable home—because we’ve always been driven out and slaughtered—that we’re in this position today. We’ve spent our lives hiding. But hiding has never solved anything. If we want a future, we must finally stand upright and face what’s coming.”
The elder sneered. “That’s easy for you to say. Then tell me—how do we face them?”
Knox replied, “By facing death head-on. By confronting them with the resolve to sacrifice everything. Even if we’re shattered to pieces, we stand tall in this world!”
The elder fell silent. He wanted to argue, but suddenly found no words.
Another elder shook his head. “No, absolutely not! Our tribe has taken root here. If we leave now, then hundreds of years of foundation will be destroyed!”
Knox shouted, “Then let it be destroyed! As long as our warriors survive and the spirit of the Highland Tribe endures, anywhere can become our homeland. We can build a new one—an even better one!”
Othniel, who had remained silent until now, finally raised his head and looked at Knox. “Knox, these ideas came from Mr. Lloyd, didn’t they?”
Knox nodded, then shook his head. “Mr. Fernsby does think this way, but these are also my own beliefs.”
Othniel sighed and shook his head. “Mr. Lloyd has already proven his friendship and goodwill toward our tribe. But his original purpose here was our warriors. Now you’re suggesting that our entire tribe follow him? Knox, it’s not that I’m being petty. As an elder, I’m worried. I’m afraid. I’m uncertain.”
Knox’s expression darkened. He wanted to say something powerful—to reassure them—but he lacked the strength and credibility to support his words. After all, he had only awakened the Arcturus bloodline with Andrew’s help. His reputation within the tribe had barely begun to form, and his authority was almost nonexistent.
Soft footsteps echoed through the hall.
Tobiah and the others quickly turned and bowed. “Mr. Lloyd. Ms. Kerrigan.”
Andrew and Nyx entered together, with Juno following behind them.
“Chief, Mr. Fernsby, and esteemed elders,” Andrew greeted calmly, his gaze sweeping across the room. Then he spoke in a deep, steady voice. “It’s true—when I first came here, I was after the fearless warriors of the Highland Tribe. I won’t deny that I had selfish motives.”
His blunt honesty caused the elders to nod quietly.
A trace of shame crossed Othniel’s face. Compared to Andrew’s openness, his earlier suspicions now felt unbecoming.
Andrew continued, “But after witnessing the simplicity, hospitality, loyalty, and unyielding courage of your people—elders, my heart changed. Completely. Instantly. Your warriors are good men. They love their homeland. They cherish their families.”
