Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3099
A mass of white holy light gathered in Andrew’s palm. He pressed his hand flat against the statue of the werewolf progenitor, Fenrir. With a thunderous boom, layers of stone and metal peeled away from the statue’s surface. An incredibly dense wave of darkness exploded outward, striking with such speed that Othniel, Nyx, and the others had no time to react before they were swallowed by it.
At the same moment, a single deafening roar echoed through the ruins—the unmistakable howl of the werewolf clan.
Tobiah, Hershel, and Juno were the first to collapse.
Blood streamed from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths as their bodies swayed on the verge of losing consciousness. Nyx and Othniel moved at once, forcing themselves to fight through the vertigo as they carried the others away, one by one. When they retreated from the statues and reached the stone steps below, they finally escaped the dark aura that had erupted moments earlier.
Othniel stared in shock. “Fenrir has been dead for a thousand years, yet he still holds such terrifying power.”
Knox shielded Tobiah and asked urgently, “Father, how do you feel? Are you all right?”
Tobiah shook his head, coughing nonstop. “Don’t worry. These old bones can still handle it. But Mr. Lloyd… he can actually wield the holy light of the Lomuia Grand Cathedral? Could he be a follower of the Cathedral?”
Nyx replied calmly, “Andrew has no connection to the Cathedral. This holy light is a legacy he obtained by chance.”
Tobiah and Othniel exchanged stunned, bewildered looks. “Only Cathedral followers can receive acknowledgment from holy light,” Tobiah said. “If Mr. Lloyd isn’t one of them, how could he possibly—”
Nyx shook her head. She didn’t know either.
Suddenly, the entire ruin—not just the area around the statues—began to shake violently. No one could see Andrew within the churning dark aura, but a massive pillar of black light suddenly shot skyward, piercing straight into the clouds.
In an instant, the once-overcast sky plunged into heavy, oppressive darkness. Thick black clouds surged in from all directions, gathering above the forbidden ground. Then a vast black vortex formed within the clouds, slowly descending, as if it were about to settle directly over the ruins.
Nyx, Othniel, Tobiah, and the others were horrified.
Othniel said gravely, “This is the reemergence of the werewolf progenitor’s power. When Fenrir unleashed his ancestral strength, it caused heavenly phenomena like this.”
“We can’t wait any longer,” Juno said decisively. “Nyx, we have to go in and save Andrew. Now.”
Nyx was about to move, but she suddenly grabbed Juno’s arm and shook her head. “Wait a little longer. If it keeps getting worse, I’ll go in. You stay outside.”
Within the tangible darkness, Fenrir’s ancestral essence began invading Andrew’s body.
The Dark Clans—werewolves, vampires, sirens, and the like—were all born with corrosive power. A vampire’s fangs and blood, a werewolf’s infection, a siren’s temptation—any of them could lead humans to corruption or death.
A faint crease of pain appeared between Andrew’s brows.
Ordinary dark aura had no effect on him. He had already absorbed werewolf hearts and blood cores; common corruption meant nothing to him. But Fenrir was the progenitor—the very first werewolf. Any aura originating from him was inherently lethal.
Unseen by anyone, changes began taking place inside Andrew’s body.
As Fenrir’s dark, primal essence surged in, a milky-white radiance began to circulate as well. The two forces collided instantly, clashing and intertwining in a violent struggle. At the same time, the Blood-Eyed Black Dragon mark on Andrew’s chest flared to life. The Lloyd family’s ancestral totem power joined the battle, attacking Fenrir’s dark aura from within.
Three completely different primal forces turned Andrew’s body into their battlefield, colliding and crushing one another.
His body couldn’t withstand it.
Andrew opened his mouth and spat out a massive mouthful of fresh blood, splattering it across Arcturus’s statue.
At that moment, he could barely cling to a single thread of clarity. With everything he had, he continued channeling the holy light, trying to suppress the lingering ferocity Fenrir had left behind in the statue.
Beyond that, he could do nothing—
and he didn’t even notice what was happening.
