Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3012
Andrew smiled. “You’re sharp, Cyril. You catch on fast. It’s simple. What I want is weapons and manpower.”
He leaned back slightly. “Go back to Throne City and send me a batch of soldiers. And remember—I want the Ludendorff family’s elite troops. On top of that, add a shipment of military supplies. I’ll have someone draw up a detailed list for you later.”
Cyril thought he’d misheard. “What?” His eyes widened. “What did you just say? You want the Ludendorff family’s elite soldiers? And weapons too? That’s absolutely impossible!”
He snapped, “Don’t even think about it!”
The Ludendorff family was already under immense pressure from the Cathedral and desperately short on both troops and supplies. Yet Andrew was demanding precisely what they lacked.
Did this man think the Ludendorff family was a charity, handing over resources so he could grow stronger and become some warlord ruling the Wastelands?
Cyril wasn’t stupid. He immediately saw through Andrew’s intentions.
Andrew shook his head, feigning regret. “And here I thought the Ludendorff family came with real sincerity.”
His tone cooled. “If you can’t even handle something this small, then I can only assume you came here to mess with me, Cyril. In that case, I’m sorry—but whatever the Cathedral’s army decides to do, I won’t interfere.”
He waved a hand. “Someone, see them out.”
Nyx rose to her feet, her expression openly hostile as she stared Cyril down.
Cyril burned with rage and nearly cursed out loud, but Nyx’s presence gave him pause. He knew this female martial god was anything but weak.
Still, if he left now without securing Abyss City’s cooperation, Throne City would be forced to face the Cathedral’s full assault alone.
And if that happened, returning home would mean facing Alonzo’s wrath.
Trapped between two disasters, Cyril clenched his teeth. “Fine. I’ll relay your demands to the family.”
He added stiffly, “But you must cooperate with the Ludendorff family and face the Cathedral together.”
Andrew shrugged. “As long as the Ludendorff family delivers the people and supplies I want, everything is negotiable.”
His gaze hardened. “Otherwise, even if I wanted to help you, I couldn’t. Abyss City has already been through two major battles—you’ve seen it yourself.”
“We’re drained of both manpower and resources. Aside from Dragonfang, there aren’t many fighters left, and most of them are unreliable. You want me to fight alongside the Ludendorff family, but I simply don’t have the strength right now.”
Cyril said nothing. Instead, he immediately contacted Alonzo.
After hearing Andrew’s demands, Alonzo exploded on the other end. “That bastard! He wants Ludendorff soldiers and weapons?”
“Does he think we’re fools, letting him extort us like this?”
Cyril replied dully, “He said if we don’t meet his conditions, Abyss City won’t coordinate with Throne City against the Cathedral. He’s extremely calculating. He won’t make a move without seeing something concrete first.”
He paused. “He’s also claiming Abyss City is short on manpower and needs reinforcements.”
Alonzo cursed several more times before finally growling, “Tell Andrew we can agree to half of his demands. We’ll support him with some soldiers and weapons—but large numbers are out of the question.”
After ending the call, Cyril immediately relayed Alonzo’s response to Andrew.
This time, Andrew was surprisingly accommodating. “As long as the Ludendorff family delivers the soldiers and weapons as soon as possible, that’s fine.”
He smiled faintly. “Once I’m fully armed and ready, I’ll definitely send troops to coordinate with your family and carry out a pincer attack.”
Cyril didn’t want to remain there a second longer. He left the gifts behind, offered Andrew a curt farewell, and turned to leave.
He was afraid that if he stayed any longer, Andrew would drive him completely insane.
Just as he reached the exit, Andrew called out calmly, “Wait.”
“There’s no need to rush off just yet.
