Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3011

In Abyss City’s city hall, Andrew sat in the seat of honor, slowly polishing Godslayer. On either side of him, the members of Dragonfang stood in silence, each absorbed in maintaining their own weapons.

Below Andrew stood Cyril. His face was dark with barely restrained fury. Behind him, his entourage shifted uneasily, fear written all over their expressions.

The Ludendorff family delegation had been kept waiting for half a day. No one from Abyss City had paid them the slightest attention.

Cyril was no ordinary envoy. He was a martial god, a pillar of the Ludendorff family—not some insignificant nobody.

And yet, Andrew was deliberately ignoring him.

That humiliation only stoked the fire in Cyril’s chest.

“Andrew, what the hell is the meaning of this?” he finally snapped, stepping forward, his face livid.

Andrew lifted Godslayer, angling the blade toward Cyril as he inspected its flawless sheen. A faint smile tugged at his lips.

“The Ludendorff family doesn’t look like it’s here to ask for a favor,” Andrew said calmly. “You’re barging in with that kind of attitude instead. Do you think I’m obligated to obey the Ludendorff family’s orders?”

    He paused, eyes cold.

“Or do you expect me to read your mood and act accordingly?”

Cyril froze. He swallowed the anger boiling in his throat, not daring to let it spill out.

“I didn’t come here to give orders,” he said stiffly. “I came to form an alliance with you—to stand together against the Cathedral’s army.”

Andrew let out an amused chuckle and set Godslayer aside.

“So you came to ask for help,” he said. “You should’ve said that from the beginning.”

    His gaze sharpened.

“Otherwise, I might’ve thought you brought these people here to try and seize Abyss City.”

Inside, Cyril was screaming, Abyss City belongs to the Ludendorff family, you arrogant bastard!
But outwardly, his expression barely twitched.

“Sir,” he said, forcing himself to remain composed, “I brought valuable gifts to show the Ludendorff family’s sincerity. We discussed this before. Abyss City and Throne City are meant to support each other as strategic strongholds, standing united against the Cathedral.”

    His tone hardened slightly.

“But you allowed the Cathedral’s army to bypass Abyss City and attack Throne City directly. The Ludendorff family finds that… puzzling.”

Andrew replied flatly, “Now you’re twisting things. What do you mean I ‘allowed’ them?”

    He shrugged.

“The Lomuia Grand Cathedral came with overwhelming force. Is that something I can control? If they want to march on Throne City and wipe out your family, that’s their business. Why should that be my responsibility?”

Cyril was momentarily speechless. His fury only intensified. He knew Andrew was deliberately playing dumb.

“Fine,” Cyril said through clenched teeth, following Alonzo’s instructions and swallowing his pride. “The Ludendorff family is formally requesting your assistance in containing the Cathedral’s army.”

He took a breath and continued, “Throne City and Abyss City should coordinate and support each other. Only then can we prevent the Cathedral from gaining the upper hand.”

    Andrew nodded thoughtfully.

“Sounds reasonable. I was thinking the same thing.”

    Cyril’s eyes lit up. “Then—”

    “But…” Andrew added casually.

    Cyril stiffened. “But what?”

    Andrew smirked.

“But what do I get out of it?”

    His voice turned sharp.

“The Cathedral’s real target is the Ludendorff family’s headquarters, not this small city. You want me to help you fend off the Cathedral’s army. You’ve got it all planned out nicely—your family gets the benefits.”

    He leaned back slightly.

    “And I get nothing.”

Cyril immediately replied, “I’ve already brought valuable gifts—”

Andrew cut him off without hesitation.

“Spare me that crap. I already know what your ‘valuable gifts’ are. Gold, silver, and treasure—nothing but useless junk.”

His eyes were cold as steel.

    “Listen carefully. We’re at war.”

“What can gold and silver buy you right now? Survival? Victory?”

    He scoffed.

“No. They can’t buy a damn thing. They’re just piles of worthless scrap metal.”

    Cyril’s face darkened further.

“Then what exactly do you want, Mr. Lloyd?”
