Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 2822
“What’s happening? Andrew is—no. I have to go in and save him!”
Panicking, Valerie rushed straight toward Harmony Cavern. Harlan and Noel reacted instantly, stepping forward to block her path.
“Ms. Reyes, you absolutely can’t go in there,” Harlan said urgently. “Harmony Cavern is extremely dangerous. Unless you’re one of the elders, anyone who enters risks their life.”
Valerie didn’t listen. Her eyes burned as she snapped, “Move. If anything happens to my man, I swear I’ll burn this entire place to the ground!”
Harlan and Noel exchanged helpless looks.
Valerie was breathtakingly beautiful, her grace unmatched—but her temper was just as legendary.
Just as she was about to force her way into the cavern, Roman darted forward and blocked the entrance.
“Ms. Reyes, don’t act recklessly,” he said. “If you go in now, not only will you fail to save the Dragon Prince, you’ll die a terrible death yourself.”
Valerie exploded. “Get out of my way, you old fraud! If it weren’t for you, Andrew wouldn’t even be in there. You saw it, didn’t you—he’s already coughing up blood! There’s something evil inside that cave, ripping open his deepest wounds!”
Roman sighed, putting on a mask of concern. “I told you already. Harmony Cavern draws out a person’s inner demons. If he overcomes them, the Dragon Prince will emerge stronger than ever. But if he can’t, then pain and injury are unavoidable.”
Valerie’s voice dropped, icy and resolute. “I won’t allow him to be hurt—not even a little. Andrew has suffered enough. He’s carried more than anyone ever should.”
Her voice trembled despite her effort to stay composed.
Roman shook his head. “There’s no point in going in, Ms. Reyes. You’ll fall into your own inner demons as well. Then both of you will be lost inside.”
Valerie’s heart burned with anxiety. She wasn’t afraid of being lost to her own demons—but if entering couldn’t save Andrew, that would be fatal.
As she stood there panicking, a cold smile tugged faintly at Roman’s lips.
If things went as planned, Andrew’s spirit would shatter in less than half an hour. He would die inside Harmony Cavern. After that, Roman could return the body to the Lloyd royal family and gain a perfectly timed favor. After all, no one could blame a death caused by inner demons.
—It was a flawless plan.
Time crawled by.
Valerie stared unblinkingly at Andrew’s silhouette inside the cavern. Her fists clenched tighter and tighter, her eyes growing red and burning hot. If Andrew truly died, she would go in after him without hesitation.
Valerie might be spoiled and fiery, but when it came to life and death, she was braver than most men. Once she chose someone, she would hold on—even if it cost her everything.
Suddenly, her heart lurched.
Inside the cavern, Andrew clutched his chest, spat out another mouthful of blood, and collapsed to the ground.
“No!” Valerie screamed, sprinting toward the entrance, abandoning all restraint.
Roman blocked her again. “Ms. Reyes, you cannot enter Harmony Cavern lightly! No matter what, I won’t allow it!”
If Valerie died on Mount Lourneau, things would spiral out of control. With Finnegan’s temperament, he would investigate everything to the bitter end—and Roman wouldn’t escape blame.
—Besides, Andrew was clearly on his last legs.
The last thing Roman wanted was for Valerie to go in and ruin everything.
Valerie didn’t hesitate. Murderous intent flashed in her eyes as she raised her hand and struck without warning.
Harlan and Noel gasped, jumping in alarm, about to intervene—
When suddenly, something shifted inside the cavern.
Andrew, who had collapsed moments earlier, twitched.
Then he struggled.
Slowly—unsteadily—he forced himself back onto his feet.
Noel’s face lit up as he pointed at the cave and shouted, “The Dragon Prince—he’s alive!”
