Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 2806

Mount Lourneau rose tall and pristine, a sacred ground renowned for producing generations of elite martial artists. Even after a thousand years, its reputation remained unmatched. Technically, it didn’t fall within Northern Holtrien’s borders, but to traditional fighters, Mount Lourneau was still regarded as one of the pillars of the Northern Martial Union. Because of that, Luther Johnston, the head of Mount Lourneau, was recognized as the Union Leader—at least in practice. Of course, that title only belonged to someone with overwhelming strength.

And Luther lived up to it. He was universally acknowledged as the strongest fighter alive, having ranked first on the Titan List.

That said, ancient sects like the Advanced Medical Institute, the Divine Alchemists, and the Thunder Sect rarely considered themselves part of the modern martial world. The reason was simple: pride. Take the Divine Alchemists, for instance. Julius had never wanted his name on the Titan List; he believed it was beneath him. To these ancient sects, martial artists were little more than physical brutes who relied on muscle and instinct—hardly worth their attention.

Their ambition was to become true superpowers, forces capable of influencing global politics.

But that dream belonged to them alone. Changing the world required real strength, not empty rhetoric.

At the foot of the long stone staircase leading up the mountain, two figures appeared. A young woman was dragging a man up the steps with all her strength. Though she was already a first-rate fighter with stamina far beyond that of ordinary people, hauling a full-grown man up a mountain had pushed her close to exhaustion.

Even so, the joy on her face was impossible to miss.

“Andrew, why don’t you take a break?” Valerie said, wiping the sweat from her forehead. “I’ll get you some water.”

She smiled brightly as she added, “The people of Mount Lourneau may be strange, but their spring water is crystal clear. You should try it.”

Andrew tried to lift a hand to stop her, but his body wouldn’t respond. All he could do was call out, “Valerie, I’m not thirsty. Come back and sit for a bit. We can keep climbing after we rest.”

Valerie just smiled. She didn’t listen. She turned and went to fetch the water.

Andrew sat down on the stone steps and closed his eyes, sensing his energy core.

As expected, it was completely dead.

His meridians were severely damaged, with several major channels almost entirely severed. He could no longer draw out the energy from his core. Worse still, there were no signs of recovery within it.

    Andrew’s expression darkened.

His strength and cultivation had clearly been declining throughout their escape. As that decline worsened, the final seal inside him had seized the opportunity to fully lock down his energy core.

In the past, his remaining strength had been enough to resist the seal’s effects. Now, it had nearly shut him down completely.

Nearly a lifetime of training—gone in an instant.

The final seal was far more vicious than he had ever imagined.

Cold killing intent flashed in Andrew’s eyes. He wasn’t a saint, nor was he soft-hearted. He simply didn’t harm the innocent or bully the weak. But when it came to vengeance, he never held back.

Everything he had suffered would one day be repaid—tenfold, a hundredfold.

He had come to Mount Lourneau not only to find a way to break the final seal, but also to demand answers from Luther. He needed to know whether Luther was aware of the person Guillermo had brought to Chetvine years ago—the one who had placed the seal on him.

No matter what Luther said, Andrew was certain he knew something. He didn’t need proof. Someone ranked first on the Titan List wouldn’t be ignorant of conspiracies that deep.

Valerie soon returned with the water. Using a large leaf as a makeshift cup, she carefully poured the spring water into Andrew’s mouth.

As he drank, she gently wiped the sweat from his forehead with the sleeve of her dress.

Andrew forced himself to lift his head. “Valerie, that’s enough. You should drink some too.”

Valerie blushed. “I already did. Besides, if you drink first and then give it to me, isn’t that a little much? I’m still a lady, you know.”

Andrew apologized quickly. “You’re right. I didn’t think it through. When I recover, I’ll be the one fetching water for you. I’ll take care of you instead.”

Valerie giggled. “I didn’t realize you were such a blockhead.”

She shot him a playful look. “Even if you recover, I don’t need you running around fetching water for me. And don’t think you can win me over with something that small.”
