Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 2741
The house was still under construction. Even though the work was moving at record speed, there was no way it would be finished in just a few days. Still, with Aspen and the others around, Andrew had nothing to worry about.
Brielle unexpectedly appeared at Medicine God’s Covenant looking for him.
Andrew smiled at the elegant woman behind the veil. “Madam Baxter, please have a seat.”
Brielle sat down, glanced around the place, and sighed softly. “Mr. Lloyd, Medicine God’s Covenant has grown incredibly fast. I took a quick look just now—customers everywhere, staff everywhere.
“I also heard you brought back an entire group of alchemists from the Advanced Medical Institute. Is that true?”
Andrew didn’t bother hiding it. “It’s true, though it’s not that many. Just twenty-eight.”
Brielle’s eyes widened as she stared at him, momentarily speechless.
Twenty-eight alchemists were priceless. In all of Chetvine, only Sovereign’s Apothecary had ever possessed that kind of strength. Even the old elite families or the royal clans couldn’t pull something like that off.
“You really never stop surprising me,” Brielle said with a helpless smile. “I’m sure you already know why I’m here.”
Andrew chuckled. “More or less. Titus and Theon are getting restless, aren’t they?”
Brielle nodded. “You guessed right. They used to treat Medicine God’s Covenant like a street-side stall—too small to matter. But now that you’ve brought back so many alchemists, Titus is feeling real pressure over at Sovereign’s Apothecary.”
Andrew shrugged casually. “Pressure from what? The alchemy market is huge. There’s no way Sovereign’s Apothecary can monopolize it all. If they share part of the market with Medicine God’s Covenant, everyone benefits.”
Brielle shook her head. “That’s not how they see it.”
She continued, “Your rise threatens Sovereign’s Apothecary in the long run. The Divine Alchemists don’t want to see the balance of power disrupted.”
Andrew replied calmly, “Then I’m afraid I can’t help. Madam Baxter, if that’s what you came to talk about, all I can offer is regret. I don’t have a solution.”
Brielle let out a cold snort. “Do you think I came here to beg you or ask you to shut down your business? I don’t waste time saying things that are pointless.”
Andrew smiled. “Oh? Then what advice do you have for me?”
After a brief pause, Brielle said, “Titus wants me to invite you back to Sovereign’s Apothecary—as their chief alchemist. He realizes now that his past decision was a mistake, so he’s trying to win you back.”
Andrew shook his head without hesitation. “Sorry. Once I walked out of Sovereign’s Apothecary, I never planned on returning. Back then, I stayed only because of you. Now that you’re no longer in charge, I have no reason to tie myself to that place.”
Brielle sighed and shook her head. “For now, there’s no way I can return to my old position either. The Divine Alchemists and Titus are watching me too closely. And there’s another reason I came to see you.”
Andrew gestured for her to continue. “Please go on, Madam Baxter.”
After hesitating for a moment, Brielle said bitterly, “I’m leaving Chetvine.”
Andrew frowned. “Did Julius force you to go back to the Divine Alchemists?”
Brielle shook her head. “No. He’s always tried to push me back, but since I already walked away from them, there’s no chance I’ll let him control me again.
“I’m leaving to search for my child.”
Andrew stared at her in shock. “Madam Baxter… you have a child?”
Brielle shot him a sharp look. “Of course I do. What—did you think someone my age was still an untouched maiden?”
