Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 2721
At the foot of the Advanced Medical Institute’s mountain lay a peach blossom grove. Early spring had painted the trees in full bloom, petals drifting through the air like pink snow. A narrow stream traced the grove’s edge, and the towering mountain range stood tall in the background.
Andrew laughed. “Perfect. We’ve got mountains, water, petals falling everywhere—and, most importantly, beautiful women.”
He waved Luna over. “Come on, let me shake the tree for you.”
Luna fiddled with her fingers, keeping her distance as she watched him with barely hidden amusement. She covered her mouth and cleared her throat. “Andrew, this is childish. I don’t want it.”
Valerie stepped forward before Luna could say more. “If she doesn’t want it, I do. Andrew, shake the tree for me.”
Andrew met Valerie’s eyes—bright, irritated, yet strangely happy.
He exhaled softly and smiled. “Alright, I’ll shake it for you first. But keep in mind, when a man shakes peach blossoms for a woman, it means you’ll be trapped in his web of love for life.”
Valerie scoffed. “You think that’s possible?”
Andrew chuckled. “Of course not. But it’s what I’m hoping for. Though honestly? It’d be better if it wasn’t possible. Your temper is terrifying—I wouldn’t survive it.”
She glared at him, but the easy warmth in his smile made her falter for just a moment. Huffing, she puffed out her cheeks and stepped under the tree.
Andrew lifted his leg and kicked the trunk. Instantly, a cascade of petals rained down like soft pink snow, carrying a sweet, spring fragrance.
Valerie froze.
Through the falling blossoms, she saw Andrew smiling at her—soft, warm, unexpectedly gentle. Her heart skipped, and even though the moment was cheesy, she had to admit—it was beautiful.
When the petals finally settled, Andrew nudged her aside. “Okay, now it’s Luna’s turn. Go rest somewhere. I need to find an even better tree for her.”
Valerie huffed, but the faint smile she couldn’t hide lingered as she stepped away.
Luna still looked flustered. “You two go ahead. I’ll sit this out.”
Andrew waved from across the grove. “Come on, don’t be shy. Opportunities like this don’t come often.”
Valerie walked up beside her, snickering. “You should go. Look at him—he’s grinning like an idiot. I’ve never seen him act so innocent. If people didn’t know better, they’d think he was some naive little young master from a respectable Chetvine family.”
Luna swallowed her nerves and finally let Andrew coax her over—though in the end he practically ran to her and pulled her along himself.
She stood under the tree, her face so red it rivaled the petals. “Andrew, please… don’t. I-I’m not into this kind of thing.”
Andrew frowned. “What girl doesn’t like flowers? And this is a shower of flowers. Come on, give me a smile.”
Luna forced a stiff smile.
“Make it natural,” he reminded gently.
Slowly, she relaxed—and the smile that bloomed on her face was breathtaking.
Andrew wrapped his arms around the trunk and gave it a firm shake. A cloud of petals fell over both of them, drifting into their hair like soft confetti.
Luna stared upward, dazed. For a moment, the world seemed to go silent. All she could hear was Andrew’s bright, carefree laughter right beside her.
When the last of the petals settled, Andrew stepped in front of her, paused, and said seriously, “From now on, we’re a couple. These blossoms will be our witnesses.”
Luna’s breath caught. He sounded so earnest it overwhelmed her. She rubbed her shoulders awkwardly. “A-Andrew… that doesn’t sound like you at all.”
Andrew shrugged. “Chetvine was suffocating. Our lives back then were always tight and tense. Feels good to relax for once. Don’t you like it?”
Luna’s eyes softened as her smile brightened. “Honestly… it’s not so bad.”
