Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 2709-
Andrew sheathed his sword and dropped down beside Mikayla, wiping the sweat from his forehead with an easy grin. “That’s the only way,” he said. “Otherwise, that old mutt Lorenzo would already be dead.”
Jerome smirked and shot a glance at Mikayla, who lay beside Andrew with a face twisted in rage and despair. He didn’t say a word as he stepped off to the side, positioning himself in case Lorenzo doubled back. Having lived through countless battles, Jerome always planned for the dangers others overlooked.
Andrew felt completely at ease with Jerome standing guard. With a martial artist like him nearby, Andrew barely needed to worry at all. One Jerome was worth a few hundred trained fighters.
Eric walked over with a shrug. “Koda took a direct palm strike from Lorenzo and somehow didn’t die. That’s pretty damn impressive.”
Andrew followed his gaze to where Koda was being lifted up by his men. Koda was still laughing like a madman, unfazed by the blood dripping down his body.
“The Advanced Medical Institute is finally mine!” Koda cackled, and his men erupted in cheers.
Andrew didn’t care in the slightest. Koda had earned that moment of joy—but only a moment. Because soon enough, Andrew would show him who actually ran the Advanced Medical Institute.
His strategy mirrored Lorenzo’s perfectly: support the internal faction, let them believe they’d won, then take the throne right out from under them. The only difference? Andrew succeeded. Lorenzo lost everything he believed he already controlled.
“Andrew, my dad, the Owens family, and Mr. Vazquez will never let you walk away from this,” Mikayla cried, clutching her stomach as pain twisted her expression. Her voice dripped with hatred and fear.
Andrew inhaled slowly, then turned toward her. He hooked a finger under her sharp chin and clicked his tongue. “Such a gorgeous face… Shame you’re about to end up dust and bones. Mikayla, don’t blame me for being ruthless. You pushed your luck too far—I can’t keep you around.”
Mikayla snapped, “Andrew, do you even dare kill me? If you do, the Owens family won’t stop until you’re dead!”
Andrew nodded as if he agreed. “You’re right. Killing you would create a lot of trouble. It might even spark a chain reaction that drags the entire Lloyd royal family into this mess.”
Mikayla sneered, ready to lash out—but Andrew let go of her chin and continued coldly.
“But just because I shouldn’t kill you doesn’t mean others can’t. Like Koda and his men. And even if they don’t kill you…” His voice dropped, colder than before. “They can still ruin you. Break you. Humiliate you. Turn you into a useless shell. That wouldn’t be hard at all.”
Mikayla’s entire body trembled as the color drained from her face. “Y–You wouldn’t dare…”
Andrew raised a hand, and Eric instantly pulled him to his feet. Andrew brushed the dust off his pants, picked up Godslayer, and walked toward Koda and his ecstatic crew.
“She’s yours,” he said. “You guys worked hard. Enjoy yourselves.”
Koda’s men turned toward Mikayla like starving wolves, eyes gleaming with predatory hunger. Killing her wasn’t as tempting as what they wanted to do first.
“No—Andrew, come back! Come back!” Mikayla screamed, her voice cracking wide open.
“No! No, please!” Real terror finally hit her as she began scrambling backward, sobbing uncontrollably.
