Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 2708-
Jerome had already thought everything through. Andrew was still injured and absolutely shouldn’t take Lorenzo head-on, but Jerome could withstand two full-power strikes from Lorenzo without collapsing. A third, however, would definitely make him cough up blood and knock him out of the fight. Still, Andrew would never let Lorenzo land a third killing blow. This wasn’t their first time fighting side by side—Andrew had even helped Jerome escape death once before—so their teamwork was razor-sharp.
With Godslayer being the monstrous weapon it was, Lorenzo couldn’t afford to slip. Taking even one direct hit meant either death or crippling damage. Under that pressure, he could only fight at about seventy percent of his full power, keeping the remaining thirty percent in reserve just to stay alive. Out of that seventy percent, half was forced into countering Jerome’s frontal assault, while the rest had to be used to defend against Andrew—the real threat.
Suddenly, Mikayla screamed again—a piercing, terrified cry that sliced through the hall like ice.
Lorenzo’s composure finally cracked as instinct yanked his attention toward her. Mikayla’s dress was soaked in blood across her chest, her hair a tangled mess, and she was being driven back step after step by Koda’s heavy sword. She looked like she barely had the strength to stand, much less fight.
Koda, though drenched in blood and clearly injured, staggered toward her with the rabid fury of a beast. He raised his greatsword with trembling hands, aiming it directly at her neck.
“The Owens family thinks they’re untouchable…” Koda laughed hysterically, venom dripping from every word. “Weren’t you acting all high and mighty earlier, you stuck-up bitch? Let’s see what’s under that pretty skin of yours!”
Mikayla’s face turned ghost-white, terror shattering the arrogance she always carried. The shadow of death swallowed every last bit of her pride.
“Dad! Help me! Save me—I don’t want to die!” she screamed, her voice splitting with raw fear.
With a thunderous boom, Lorenzo finally unleashed the true power of a fourth-stage Martial Emperor. His body erupted in a violent storm of energy, and when Andrew swung Godslayer at him, the strike blasted back as if hitting a hurricane. Andrew staggered, spitting more blood as it streamed down the blade. Yet he didn’t flinch.
“Lorenzo,” he growled, “everything that happened today happened because of your family. You brought this on yourselves.”
Blood still dripping from his palm, he shook off the force knocking him back, dragged Godslayer behind him, and charged again.
Lorenzo, eager to break free, twisted with fury as he thrust his palm forward. Koda and his sword were instantly blown apart, scattered in broken pieces across the ground. Lorenzo grabbed for Mikayla to escape, but Godslayer came screaming in from behind, ready to split him in half if it landed.
Jerome went all in as well. Since any fighter rushed to protect their weak point first, he shot straight toward Mikayla. Even if Lorenzo managed to grab her, Jerome’s palm strike would land before they could flee.
And if that happened, Lorenzo would be running with nothing but a corpse in his arms.
“Andrew, you little bastard! If anything happens to my precious daughter, you’ll die without a grave!” Lorenzo roared, his voice shaking with fury.
He shoved Mikayla back onto the ground and launched himself sideways, leaping across the rooftops of the Advanced Medical Institute before disappearing into the distance.
Jerome watched the direction Lorenzo had fled and said, “Andy, Lorenzo must be running to get Mr. Vazquez to save him.”
