Alpha’s Second Chance Chapter 327

I was looking in the books about my powers and felt Lily somewhere in the back of my head.

The pack had changed, like a life source had been taken from everyone, and it had. There had to be something I could do, and I don’t know what. I thought of Dad, and these powers had run in my family for many generations. Maybe he would know. I picked up my phone and called him.

“Madeleine, hello sweetheart,” Dad says, he must have seen my number on his phone.

“Hello, Dad, can I ask you something?” I ask.

“Yes, of course you can.” He answers.

I have been reading about my powers in the books. It says several times that nature is a lifeform. And I can wake dead trees and plants.” I begin and pause.

“I know what you’re asking, and I expected that you would wonder about this. For us, wolves, nature is important. It’s where we live from birth to death. And then we get reborn.”

“But the Moon goodness,” I say.

“The moon goddess created us, yes, but not without knowing we had places where we could live and be what we are,” Dad says, and I am not entirely sure I understand.

“Dad, has anyone ever brought someone back from the dead?” I ask, and he gets very quiet.

“Dad?” I ask when he doesn’t say anything.

“Yes. It has happened before.”

“How?” I ask.

“I don’t know, I just know it has happened, several hundred years ago.”

“Okay, thank you, Dad. Talk to you soon.” I said, and we said our goodbyes.

It has been done before, so there had to be a way.

‘Let us go for a run.’ Lily says in my mind. And I know it’s been a long time, so maybe a run will clear my thoughts.

I walk to the forest and shift into Lily, and she starts running. I just let her run, and

she knows where she can go. But I’m surprised when she runs straight to the moon lake.

‘Lily?’ I ask.

‘Just wait,’ She says, and I do as she says.

She stops by the lake, and I look around but see nothing strange. So I relax, thinking she just wanted to go there maybe, knowing it will be a full moon tonight. Lily let us shift back to our human form again, and I found a long t-shirt in one of the hiding spots that Noah had shown me.

“Hello, Madeleine.” A female voice says behind me, and I turn.

A woman I have never seen before stands there, dressed in all white, with Shiny silver hair, and I gasp.

“Moon goodness,” I say, and I bow.

“Stand my child.” She says, and I do as I am told, without speaking, but wait.

“You want to bring the queen back.” She says, and it is not a question.

“Yes, my goddess. The pack needs her; it feels as if it is dying with her. I say, looking at the ground.

“She knew someday she would have to do this. It’s the cost the keep our world safe.” The moon goddess answers.

“But is the world safe without her in it?” I ask, not looking at her, and I hear her laugh.

“Maybe not.” She then admits

“And, with the risk of sounding rude, you also knew I would be here someday,” I say, hoping she doesn’t think I’m taking it too far.

“Yes, but bringing her back won’t be for free.” She answers

“What is the cost?” I ask.

But she didn’t answer, so it could be anything, but I feel comfortable that it’s not my life, or I am sure she would say so. In the end, I know it is not only my choice, so I mindlink Lily wanting to hear what she thinks.

‘Lily?’ I ask silently.

‘I trust that you will make the right choice, no matter what.’ Is all she says.

I look at the moon, goodness, and I take my time to think. However, no matter which road my thoughts take, they always lead to the same place And this world needs her. I lift my head and see the moon goddess standing there just waiting.

“Do it,” I say as I look at her, and I see a small smile on her lips.

“As you wish.” The moon goddess says, and slowly disappears.

Wait what? Is she just going? I need to know what to do, so I wait for over an hour, and nothing happens. I give up and go home. Noah isn’t back yet, so I go to bed, hoping that tonight was not a waste of time.

And I fall asleep not knowing what I have set in motion but hoping it will work. And more importantly, do I not have any idea about what is about to happen on this full moon?
