Dumping My Ex to Flash Marry the Untouchable CEO Chapter 1557
Lucas couldn’t explain why, but her words left him feeling uneasy.
He meant well, so why was Aurora reacting like this?
“Then why won’t you tell me what’s really going on between you and Yvonne? Is it because you’ve got something to hide?”
Lucas almost laughed at the accusation.
“There’s nothing between us. We’re just colleagues, business partners, that’s all.‘
He spoke earnestly. “Aurora, we’re married now. Why can’t you trust me? No matter what, I’m still your husband in name.
“If there’s no trust between us, how can this relationship last? One day, it’ll explode like a volcano.”
Aurora’s temper flared instantly. “Then why didn’t you just tell me the truth earlier?”
“Because I’ve been hiding among your production crew all day. I saw everything that happened on set,” Lucas said.
Aurora’s eyes widened. “Why would you do that?”
He was a CEO, after all. Wasn’t that beneath him?
If she hadn’t known his identity before, it might’ve been different. But now that she knew he was the head of Vanguard Group, disguising himself as a staff member seemed ridiculous.
She couldn’t quite describe the feeling.
It was strange and unsettling.
He was being too good to her, and that kindness almost felt overwhelming.
Sure enough, Lucas continued naturally, “Because I didn’t want you to feel pressured. I wanted you to be completely yourself.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Aurora truly didn’t understand.
If he stepped forward to help or clarify things, would that somehow stop her from being herself?
Why did it have to be this way?
Lucas could only sigh. “Didn’t you once say you didn’t want to feel trapped? That’s why I didn’t want to restrain
you.
“I’ve been watching from the sidelines for quite some time, and I saw that you could handle things on your own. That’s why I didn’t step in. I trust you, Aurora. I don’t want to cage you in and make you lose your independence.”

Aurora’s lips parted slightly in surprise. She hadn’t expected him to be so thoughtful, to consider even the smallest details.
Then why did you come to my room tonight?” she asked, her tone softer now, no longer sharp or defensive. After thinking it over, she realized she might have been too harsh with her words earlier. Maybe they needed to talk things through calmly.
Lucas noticed her tone had eased and felt a quiet sense of relief. Since she was no longer angry, they could finally have an honest conversation.
“I wanted to come to you earlier, but since the show was being broadcast live, I didn’t want to interrupt and affect your work.”
Aurora blinked, startled again. She hadn’t expected that every decision he made had been for her sake.
Thinking back on what she had said to him earlier, she began to feel guilty. Maybe she really had gone too far.
