    Chapter 2742

The night wind tore through the ruins, carrying the acrid smell of smoke and blood far beyond the Wiebe family mansion.

Cradling her badly injured, unconscious son, Fairxy fled Oakvale in disgrace. With a handful of loyal subordinates at her side, she disappeared into the mountains and took refuge in a long-abandoned Taoist temple hidden deep in the wilderness.

The structure was barely standing. Broken beams lay scattered across the ground, and only a few side rooms remained partially intact.

Moonlight streamed through a shattered window, casting a pale glow over Fairxy’s ashen, contorted face—sharpening the cruelty already etched into her expression.

    “Mother… it hurts…”

Loreo murmured faintly in his unconscious state, his small body curled in pain.

Fairxy carefully laid him on a worn wooden bed and pulled a thick blanket over him before quickly examining his injuries.

Kennedy’s palm strike hadn’t killed him outright, but the icy spiritual energy had invaded his meridians, wreaking havoc on his fragile foundation. If it wasn’t treated properly, the damage would be permanent.

“Kennedy…” Fairxy hissed, her voice trembling with hatred. “I’ll make you suffer a thousand deaths.”

She had always been proud—arrogant, even. Though she came from only a branch of a secluded cultivation family, she had never endured such humiliation. To be overpowered and injured by another cultivator—especially one who was already wounded—was intolerable.

And it had happened right in front of her son.

Forcing down her rage, she pulled several rare pills from her storage pouch and fed them to Loreo. Then she channeled her true energy, carefully guiding it through his chaotic meridians, straightening and stabilizing them bit by bit.

She worked through the entire night.

By dawn, Loreo’s breathing had finally evened out, and he slipped into a deep sleep. But his face remained ghostly pale.

Seeing him like this pushed Fairxy’s killing intent to its limit.

She stepped out of the side room into the temple’s crumbling courtyard. Three men were waiting—servants and guards who had followed her for years. All were late-stage True Energy Refinement cultivators, formidable by ordinary standards.

    “Fairxy.”

The leader—a middle-aged man with a sharp, sinister face—bowed deeply.

“Have you made contact?” Fairxy asked, her voice hoarse.

“Yes,” he replied. “I used the clan’s secret communication method. I reported everything—Kennedy’s identity, her injuries, her current location, and her interference on behalf of mortals.”

Fairxy’s eyes gleamed. “And the clan’s response?”

Lowering his voice, the man said, “The elders confirmed Kennedy is a surviving member of the Bai family and holds clues related to that thing. Her value is beyond measure. She must be captured alive. At the very least, whatever she carries cannot fall into outside hands.”

He hesitated, then added, “The clan has dispatched three teams of Shadow Guards. The Seventh Elder is leading them personally. They’ll arrive by tomorrow evening at the latest.”

“The Seventh Elder… himself?” Fairxy froze for a split second—then burst into laughter.

“Perfect. Absolutely perfect!” Her excitement edged into madness. “With the Seventh Elder and the Shadow Guards involved, Kennedy has nowhere left to run!”

She paced the courtyard, resentment twisting into savage anticipation.

“When he arrives, I’ll cripple her cultivation with my own hands, throw her into the family’s water dungeon, and let the cold poison eat away at her day and night.” Her smile turned vicious. “And that cursed white fox? I’ll skin it alive and make a new scarf for Loreo.”

One of the guards hesitated. “Fairxy… Master Qinson intervened yesterday. If not for him, we might not have made it out. The Seventh Elder is powerful, but Qinson has influence among rogue cultivators and close ties with several families. If he interferes again—”

“Qinson?” Fairxy scoffed. “A lucky old fossil who barely scraped his way into Core Formation and hides among rogue cultivators like a stray dog.”

Her eyes flashed with cold contempt. “Does he really think he can meddle in the affairs of the Yux family? If he knows what’s good for him, he’ll stay out of it. If not—we’ll handle him too. The Seventh Elder is mid–Golden Core. Crushing Qinson would be effortless.”

She stopped abruptly, a cruel smile spreading across her face.

    “As for those mortals…”

The guards felt a chill run down their spines.

“Before the Seventh Elder arrives,” Fairxy said coldly, “we’ll collect some interest.”

The sinister-faced man swallowed. “You mean…?”

“The Wiebe family,” Fairxy spat. “Doesn’t Kennedy love playing savior? Doesn’t she care about those ants’ lives?”

Her eyes burned with unhinged fury. “I’ll show her exactly what happens to mortals when she meddles!”

    “If Master Qinson finds out—”

“Do you really think he’d risk himself for a bunch of insignificant mortals?” Fairxy snapped. “Besides, he still owes the Yux family a favor. He wouldn’t dare interfere.”

Her voice dropped to a venomous whisper.

“Gather everyone. Tonight, we wipe out the Wiebe family. Burn it to the ground.”

    She clenched her fists tightly.

“By the time Kennedy hears about it and rushes back… all she’ll find is ashes.”

“I’ll drown her in guilt. I’ll make her suffer. I’ll break her Dao heart.”

The three guards exchanged uneasy glances. They could see it clearly—Fairxy was consumed by vengeance.

And there was no stopping her now.

    They bowed in unison.

    “Yes.”
