Chapter 2629
“It’s the sea monster—an octopus demon!” The old fisherman collapsed at the cabin door, his teeth chattering. “Legend says the beast in Black Water Ditch feeds only on the living!”
Even as he spoke, more tentacles whipped up from the sea, lashing at the ship from every direction. One wrapped around the main mast, snapping it in half with a sickening crack. Others crashed through the cabin, smashing through crates and scattering supplies.
A young soldier was snatched into the air by a tentacle. He screamed out his companion’s name—but before help could reach him, the beast flung him into the crashing waves. He vanished instantly, swallowed whole by the sea.
The ship lurched violently, its hull nearly tipping as it rolled hard to port.
A medical officer was tending to a wounded soldier when a tentacle struck him from behind, sending him sprawling. The medicine chest flew open, its contents scattering and soaking into the rising seawater.
Then the suction cups latched onto his legs.
The man screamed, eyes wide with terror, as he was slowly dragged toward the edge of the deck.
“Help me!” he cried, arms outstretched in desperation.
A nearby soldier grabbed a spear and lunged, stabbing into the writhing tentacle. The blade sank in deep—but the suction cup tightened, refusing to let go.
The soldier yanked hard, but the beast pulled back with more strength, dragging him across the slick deck.
Suddenly, another tentacle slammed into him from the side, hurling him to the ground. His spear skittered out of reach.
Seeing this, Grace moved.
Her sword flashed from its sheath, carving a brilliant silver arc through the wind and rain.
With a sharp hiss, the blade sliced clean through the tentacle that held the medic. Dark green blood sprayed across the deck, sizzling as it hit the wood—acidic.
But even as they watched, the severed limb began to regenerate. Fresh tissue bubbled up from the wound, healing at an unnatural speed.
Grace’s eyes narrowed. So it heals… and fast.
Before she could regroup, more tentacles burst from the waves, slamming toward her like battering rams.
She spun, sword flashing again and again.
All around her, soldiers fought to keep up, striking at the endless limbs with whatever weapons they had. But no matter how many they cut, more rose in their place.
The ship had become a battlefield—chaotic, drenched, screaming.
And just when it seemed the monster might overwhelm them—
Logan rose into the air, hovering above the mast like a golden flame.
With a single sweep of his blade, brilliant light poured from the heavens, each beam sharpening into deadly blades of golden energy.
They fell like a storm, slicing every tentacle in sight.
A guttural, inhuman scream echoed from the deep.
The beast had been wounded—and now it was furious.
Suddenly, hundreds of new tentacles exploded from the ocean, rising like missiles, all converging on Logan.
Buzz—
A radiant golden halo bloomed around him, holding back the assault. The tentacles struck the barrier and shattered—splintering into chunks that splashed uselessly into the sea.
Then Logan’s body shrank in a flash, becoming no more than a golden streak—and he shot downward, vanishing into the heart of the storming sea.
“The core’s underwater!” Grace shouted from the deck. “We won’t kill it just by cutting off limbs!”
And Logan heard.
Without hesitation, he dove deep into the abyss, a streak of blinding gold piercing the blackened waters.
Compared to the monstrous ocean, his figure was small—insignificant.
But as soon as he disappeared beneath the surface, the tentacles retracted.
The octopus monster had sensed true danger.
The sea above twisted into a massive whirlpool. The Breaking Waves groaned as it was dragged downward, spiraling fast. Wood creaked and splintered beneath them, a sickening sound that warned of collapse.
Far below, Logan tore through the darkness like a sword unleashed.
After plunging nearly a hundred meters, he found it.
The creature.
It was massive—hundreds of writhing tentacles surrounding a central body the size of a ship’s cabin. Dozens of glowing green eyes blinked in the dark, each one cold and unfeeling. Its mouth was ringed with rotating teeth, sharp as sawblades, grinding constantly.
It was a nightmare born from the sea.
“You picked the wrong ship.”
Logan’s voice was calm. Focused.
With a flick of his wrist, he raised his sword.
A brilliant slash tore through the deep—a beam of light over a hundred meters long.
Boom!
The ocean shook. The pressure split the water in two, carving a massive trench beneath the waves.
The beam struck true, ripping straight through the beast’s core.
The monster roared in agony, its voice echoing through the deep like a war drum.
It thrashed wildly, churning the sea into chaos. Tentacles lashed in every direction, but it was too late.
The light from the blade had pierced its heart.
A moment later, with a deafening crack, its body exploded.
A wave of green blood gushed upward, burning the ocean’s surface like acid.
Then—stillness.
The storm calmed. The whirlpool faded.
The tentacles that had terrorized the ship lost their strength and slowly sank back into the sea, lifeless as withered vines.
Seconds later, Logan shot up from the depths, cloaked in golden light, landing lightly on the deck of the Breaking Waves.
For a moment, no one moved.
Then the cheers erupted.
He had faced a monster straight from legends—and won.
Alone.
Even the old fisherman, who had spent the entire battle curled in fear, now looked at Logan as if he were divine. Awe lit his wrinkled face, and his trembling hands clutched the charm tighter.
Logan, calm as ever, simply sheathed his sword.
