Chapter 2606
For Logan, crushing the zombie horde with the mountains wasn’t his only option.
He could also use his powers to extract the death energy from the zombies.
Once the death energy is gone, the zombies lose all movement and revert to lifeless corpses.
But that method was far too slow—and incredibly inefficient.
With tens of thousands of zombies, extracting their energy one by one would be nothing more than a temporary fix. It drained too much energy and didn’t produce great results.
If he had to choose, brute force was the better option.
The most effective strategy was to herd the entire horde into one place—then wipe them out all at once by reshaping the terrain.
Simple. Fast. Effective.
The only real challenge was luring all the zombies together.
Because once even one slips through the cracks, the corpse poison spreads like wildfire.
After sealing the zombie army beneath the mountain, Logan’s figure flashed—and he instantly appeared inside the helicopter hovering above.
“The Pucheng crisis is handled,” he said. “What’s the situation in the other three cities? Where should I go next?”
Grace didn’t hesitate. “Linche is in complete chaos. Matthias ignored all warnings and tried to use regular troops to stop the zombies. It backfired. Now, tens of thousands are infected and have turned into zombies.”
She looked visibly frustrated.
“Honestly, if Dragonmarsh ends up in that man’s hands, I can’t imagine how many people would die because of his pride. He was too focused on proving himself—risking thousands of lives just for his own ego.”
But no matter how angry Grace felt, she still had to pick up the pieces for him. The people’s safety came first.
“If Linche’s situation is that unstable, I won’t be able to wipe out all the zombies alone,” Logan said calmly. “I need Matthias to cooperate—to evacuate civilians and gather the horde. Otherwise, it’s pointless for me to go there right now.”
If Matthias hadn’t cleared the area or corralled the zombies, Logan’s powers would be wasted. He’d be better off heading to one of the other cities where things were under control.
The smart move was to stabilize the easier cases first—then return to Linche and finish the job.
“You’re right,” Grace admitted. “I didn’t think it through.”
She quickly added, “I’ve already sent support to Linche. They’re trying to hold the line and buy time for the people. As for Wugang and Liyanche, they’ve already followed the plan and gathered the zombies. Wugang is closer—I suggest going there first.”
“Alright. Wugang City it is.”
Logan didn’t say another word. His figure flickered—and vanished from the helicopter.
A second later, he reappeared over a hundred meters away, soaring like a meteor across the sky toward Wugang City.
A plague, a red mist, and now zombies.
Since stepping foot into the Southern Frontier, Logan hadn’t had a moment’s rest.
Now he truly understood what it meant when people said: the greater the power, the greater the responsibility.
Even someone as powerful as a land-born immortal could feel the fatigue after constantly rushing from one crisis to the next.
But there was no other choice.
This wasn’t about personal comfort—it was about the lives of thousands and the safety of the Southern Frontier.
No matter how exhausting it was, they could only grit their teeth and press on.
…
At the same time, in Wugang City.
Unlike mountainous Pucheng, Wugang sat by the sea, known for its well-connected ports.
Under the guidance of Milton and a team of advisors, Tristan deployed over a dozen suicide squads to lead the zombie horde into the city’s most secure port.
Tristan’s plan was simple—drown the zombies in seawater.
But he quickly realized it wouldn’t work.
Zombies weren’t afraid of water.
To be precise, zombies were dead creatures powered by corpse poison and death energy. Seawater had little effect.
At best, it slowed them down—but it didn’t stop them.
Of course, Tristan didn’t stop at just flooding the area. He also ordered incendiary bombs and artillery strikes to try and burn or blast the zombies into oblivion.
And while the firepower did achieve some results, it wasn’t enough.
There were too many of them.
Each zombie was nearly immune to conventional weapons—unless they were blown into pieces, they wouldn’t die.
And the real problem?
The collateral damage was massive.
The large-scale shelling had destroyed chunks of the city. Forget killing zombies—half the city might be in ruins after just a few more barrages.
That kind of destruction came at too high a cost.
Unless it was truly the last resort, no one wanted to go down that path.
At least for now, Tristan hadn’t reached that breaking point.
Why? Because he had a powerful ace up his sleeve.
He believed that the mysterious immortal who had wiped out the red mist would show up soon—and handle the situation with ease.
So why waste manpower and resources when the real solution was on its way?
The structure might be shaky—but with someone stronger holding it up, all he had to do was cooperate.
