Chapter 2415
The frail, hunched old man underwent a shocking transformation. His bony frame began to expand, muscles and bones growing at an incredible rate. From a height of 1.6 meters, he shot up to 1.8 meters in just one breath—and he was still growing.
Soon, his skeletal body became packed with bulging, explosive muscles, his skin stretching and even splitting under the strain. The hunched back straightened, and the frail old man was replaced by a towering, brawny figure.
In mere seconds, he was unrecognizable. Standing close to two meters tall, his massive frame rippled with muscles, and his bloodthirsty eyes gleamed with menace. The transformation was terrifying.
If he had once resembled a starving wildcat, he now stood like a ferocious tiger.
Dark energy swirled around him, and his face twisted into a cruel, savage expression. He looked like a demon that had clawed its way out of hell.
“What an exquisite flavor,” he murmured, licking his lips in satisfaction after devouring the deathly energy and lingering resentment around him.
This transformation was the result of his secret technique, the Heaven Devouring Demonic Art. It was a forbidden power he only used as a last resort, as every use drained some of his lifespan. But this time, he had no choice. Completing the mission outweighed his concern for survival.
By using his own life force to consume the deathly energy around him, he had become overwhelmingly powerful—for a short time. Now, his strength was at the level of a grandmaster, though it would only last as long as it takes for an incense stick to burn. That would be more than enough to defeat the gray-clothed old man.
“Foul heretic! You deserve death!” The gray-clothed old man’s face grew colder, his killing intent unmasked as he regarded the transformed enemy.
He was all too familiar with the Heaven Devouring Demonic Art. It was a forbidden magic, its power fueled by death and suffering. The more lives it claimed, the stronger it became.
Years ago, a great devil had unleashed the Heaven Devouring Demonic Art, bringing ruin to the martial world. It had taken the gray-clothed old man’s senior brother, Arion Foyer, to finally slay the demon. Now, facing the art’s inheritor, he would show no mercy.
“Kill me? Let’s see if you’re up to the task!” The hunchbacked old man sneered, his voice dripping with malice.
“Thunder Strike!”
Without hesitation, the gray-clothed old man raised his hand, summoning a bolt of violet lightning. It streaked toward the hunchbacked old man, aiming for his chest.
The transformed figure didn’t dodge. Instead, he swung his fist, summoning a black spear formed from concentrated death energy. The spear clashed with the lightning in a deafening explosion.
Both attacks dissipated, leaving neither man with the upper hand.
“Hmm?”
The gray-clothed old man frowned in surprise. The Thunder Strike, designed to suppress dark arts, had failed to subdue the Heaven Devouring Demonic Art.
“Surprised?” the hunchbacked old man sneered. “When my master fell to Arion Foyer, I vowed to adapt. I’ve refined the Heaven Devouring Demonic Art, and your thunder techniques can no longer restrain me. Today, I will avenge my master and destroy your Sacred Wyrm Summit!”
With that, his body exploded into three black skulls, each radiating intense death energy. They shot toward the gray-clothed old man from three directions, their erratic movements making them nearly impossible to predict.
The gray-clothed old man immediately clapped his hands, summoning three bolts of violet lightning. Each bolt targeted a skull, but the skulls twisted through the air, narrowly evading the lightning and slamming into the golden light barrier protecting him.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
The skulls detonated upon contact, unleashing waves of death energy that engulfed the gray-clothed old man.
The golden barrier began to sizzle, emitting green smoke as the death energy corroded it. The gray-clothed old man’s expression darkened. The death energy was drilling through his defenses—once it reached his body, it would drain his vitality.
“Demon Suppression Talisman!”
Without hesitation, he threw three golden talismans into the air. They spun rapidly, forming a protective formation above him and transforming into a golden bell.
“Suppress!”
With a command, the bell descended, dispelling the surrounding death energy and adding a second layer of protection.
However, the death energy relentlessly attacked the bell, trying to break through.
“Turn!”
The gray-clothed old man formed seals with his hands, causing the golden bell to spin. The swirling motion sucked in the death energy, trapping it within. The bell spun faster and faster, rising into the air as it absorbed the malevolent force.
“Seal!”
With another hand seal, the golden bell shrank rapidly until it was no larger than a fist. The gray-clothed old man then affixed a divine talisman to its surface, locking the death energy inside.
The golden bell fell to the ground with a dull thud, the battlefield now eerily calm.
The hunchbacked old man and his death energy were gone—sealed within the bell.
The gray-clothed old man exhaled deeply, his tense shoulders relaxing. “What a fearsome technique,” he muttered. “If not for the divine talisman, this battle would have been far more difficult.”
He extended his hand, and the golden bell floated into his palm.
However, just when the gray-clothed old man was a little relaxed.
The golden bell in his palm suddenly exploded with a “bang”, and a large amount of black death energy, like a hell of evil spirits, instantly gushed out and poured into the gray-clothed old man’s body from the seven orifices.
The gray-clothed old man’s face changed drastically, but it was too late to stop it.
