Chapter 2377
A flash of blue light appeared.
A blue lightning shield, shaped like an upside-down bowl, covered the entire arena. The energy waves from the explosions crashed against the shield in an endless series of powerful waves.
The shield trembled under the impact but held firm after a few moments.
The audience let out a collective sigh of relief, clearly shaken by the intensity of the scene. They were fortunate that Orion Foster reacted quickly, or the explosion’s energy might have reached them.
Fenley, a grandmaster, had the power to take a life with even a simple attack.
As the dust settled, the situation on the stage had changed.
Fenley stood tall and imposing, his robes flowing in the wind, looking almost like a god. Behind him, a lifelike image of a god with sharp, commanding eyes added to his aura.
In contrast, Briggs was thrown back over ten meters by the impact. His face had gone pale, blood stained the corners of his mouth, and his arms trembled slightly.
“The gap between us is still too big,” Briggs thought to himself, frustrated.
He realized that Fenley was much stronger today than he had been yesterday. Even before Fenley’s breakthrough, Briggs’s chances of winning were slim; now they were nearly impossible.
“You managed to block my Fire God’s Wrath. I have to say, you’re quite powerful,” Fenley said, his voice steady. “Before my breakthrough, you might have been a challenge. But now, with this gap between us, your efforts are in vain.”
An ordinary martial artist would have been destroyed by that attack, but Briggs stood his ground, suffering only minor injuries. This proved his exceptional skill. Fenley, who valued talent, chose not to press his advantage.
If he had continued with Thunder God’s Wrath, Briggs would have been severely injured or worse.
“Thank you for your mercy, Mr. Hudson. I admit defeat,” Briggs said, standing up straight and bowing to Fenley in respect. “I concede this match.”
Fenley nodded, relieved. By not using all his strength, he was conserving energy for the upcoming matches. The powerful techniques of the Four Symbols of the Heavenly God were exhausting, and using them recklessly would only drain his strength.
Briggs’s defeat wasn’t surprising. Most of the audience expected Fenley to win. The only question was how long Briggs could withstand his attacks. Blocking two powerful moves without dying showed Briggs’s extraordinary skills.
But if the fight continued, someone would likely be fatally injured. It was only a competition; risking one’s life was unnecessary. Realizing the situation and making a wise choice wasn’t cowardice—it was common sense.
“Contestant No. 8, Briggs, admits defeat. Congratulations to contestant No. 1, Fenley, on the victory!” Orion Foster announced.
Thunderous applause filled the arena, with the Celestial Alliance disciples cheering the loudest. Fenley’s win secured his place in the semi-finals, a cause for celebration.
“Master Marshall, your disciple is truly remarkable!” said Katy Foster, smiling. “In just one night, it’s like he’s transformed. His strength has greatly improved—it’s impressive.”
“Master Foster, you have a keen eye,” Alloy Marshall replied, smiling proudly. “Fenley made a breakthrough during the battle and is now a grandmaster. He’s proven himself.”
“Congratulations,” Katy Foster said with a smile.
“But breakthroughs in battle carry risks,” Cyrus Hadley interjected. “If Fenley doesn’t stabilize his new power, he could lose control.”
Alloy Marshall shot back, “My disciple’s foundation is solid. He won’t falter or stray from his path.”
Cyrus sneered, “Even if he stabilizes, his strength is still unsteady. You don’t seriously think a freshly minted grandmaster can win the championship, do you?”
Cyrus’s disciple, Glenn Hadley, had reached the grandmaster level two years ago, making Fenley seem insignificant in comparison.
“You’ll see soon enough,” Alloy Marshall said confidently. “The Celestial Alliance has many skills beyond the Four Gods, and Fenley’s talent is extraordinary. He has the ability to defeat stronger opponents and win against all odds.”
