Married at First Sight Chapter 4565 – While Romina was out shopping, she unexpectedly ran into her nemesis—River.
River was out with his niece and nephew, accompanied by two bodyguards and two nannies. None of them were familiar faces.
Romina guessed they must have come with his sister-in-law, who was probably in Eaglioncile too. River likely asked them to help watch the kids temporarily. With his current status and resources, it wouldn’t be hard for him to bring in some help on short notice.
He had already washed off the lipstick from his face and changed into fresh clothes.
As he stepped out of a toy store with the two kids, their paths crossed.
They both stopped in surprise.
Then River walked over, smiling, with Bethany in his arms. “Romina, what a coincidence. We meet again. Don’t you think fate keeps bringing us together?”
Romina rolled her eyes inwardly. Fate, my foot.
But out loud, she replied, “Eaglioncile isn’t that huge. Our companies are pretty close. We could run into each other several times a day. Don’t act like it’s been ages.”
They really did run into each other a lot.
Eaglioncile wasn’t small, but it wasn’t massive either. Some people lived in the same city for years and never met, while others crossed paths daily.
River smiled. “It’s just rare to see you out on a weekend.”
“Hello, Aunt Romina,” Maverick greeted politely.
Bethany, in River’s arms, reached out to Romina, calling sweetly, “Aunt, Aunt.”
She still remembered her.
Romina’s heart melted. Bethany was her favorite.
She immediately reached out and took Bethany from River’s arms.
“Belle, I haven’t seen you in days. Auntie missed you so much.” Romina kissed the little girl’s cheek.
River felt a twinge of jealousy. Romina was always cold to him. A kiss? Unthinkable—unless she was drunk. Last night didn’t count. When sober, she was more likely to slap him than kiss him.
Bethany hugged Romina’s neck lovingly, then kissed her cheek softly.
Romina’s heart completely melted.
“Did Serenity come with you?” Romina asked as she instinctively walked alongside River, still holding Bethany.
River didn’t let his eagerness show. He answered casually, “She’s on a business call with her partner. Since I’m off today and they didn’t want to go out, I took the kids out for a walk. Baby wanted building blocks, so I got him a few big sets. Should keep him busy for a while.”
Maverick loved building blocks. He had an entire room at home dedicated to them, with shelves full of his creations.
River didn’t have kids of his own, so when his brother and sister-in-law came to visit, there weren’t many toys around. Since he had time, he took the kids out to shop for new ones.
Bethany liked building blocks too, but she couldn’t handle the complicated ones yet. She was more into toddler toys, dolls, and toy cars.
Romina asked the kids, “Did you get everything you wanted? Want Auntie to take you to a big toy store?”
Maverick looked at River for permission. River gave a slight nod, and Maverick turned to Romina with a smile. “Thanks, Aunt Romina. Let’s go check it out.”
Married at First Sight Chapter 4566 – Whether they bought anything or not didn’t really matter. With Uncle River around, Maverick figured he’d be footing the bill anyway.
Maverick had money, but his mom kept it safe for him. She said he was too young to manage it.
Romina said to River, “If you’re looking for toy stores, this isn’t the right street. This whole area is filled with luxury stores. It’s one of Eaglioncile’s top high-end shopping streets. You should head across the street—there’s a whole row of toy stores, stationery shops, and children’s clothing boutiques.”
Romina was born and raised in Eaglioncile. She knew every street like the back of her hand.
River nodded. “I don’t shop much. I didn’t know the toy street was over there. Thanks—I’ll check it out.”
He wasn’t lying. Even though he’d lived in Eaglioncile for a few years and had settled down, he rarely went shopping himself. Work kept him too busy.
For daily necessities, he just handed a list to the butler or had his secretary handle it.
Romina quipped, “Told you—you don’t know Eaglioncile as well as I do.”
River chuckled. “Well, you are the local expert.”
He looked at her teasingly. “So, what made you come out today? Were you so angry at me that you had to step outside to cool off?”
If Serenity had been there, she would’ve scolded him for his mouth.
The atmosphere between them had been light, thanks to the kids—but River just had to ruin it by bringing up the morning’s drama.
Romina glared at him and snapped, “River, quit acting like I’m the problem. I don’t start fights—you do, with your smart mouth. I wouldn’t even argue if you didn’t keep poking at me. And yeah, I was in a bad spot this morning. I’m sure you’re thrilled. You waited for me to sober up and see what I did to your face, huh?”
River laughed. “You had the nerve to go after me, but now you’re embarrassed? That lipstick on my face and neck was all you. If I hadn’t let you see the evidence, you’d be calling me a liar. Where’s my justice?”
Romina groaned. “Ugh, can we just not talk about it?”
“Auntie, I like it,” Bethany chimed in at the perfect time, her soft little voice immediately defusing the tension.
Romina grinned and kissed Bethany again. “You like Auntie, don’t you, Belle? Auntie loves you too.”
River said, “Don’t kiss her too much—Belle doesn’t usually like people kissing her. But you can kiss her Uncle River instead. I’ll accept it on her behalf.”
Without a word, Romina freed a hand and gave River a hard pinch on the arm.
He yelped in pain.
Only when Maverick looked up did Romina let go.
Maverick’s wide eyes blinked.
He was confused.
Aunt Romina bullies Uncle River all the time… so why does Uncle River still want to marry her?
Sigh. I don’t get it. Adults are weird.
Maverick thought silently: The adult world is way too complicated. Kids like me just don’t understand.
