Married At First Sight Chapter 3761

Chapter 3761

“Yes, let’s go find Kathryn. She’s back at the company today,” Marco’s younger brothers agreed.

Unable to enter the mansion, the three brothers left, frustrated and defeated. They returned to the company, fuming with anger.

When they reached the Farrell Group, they saw Liberty’s car leaving the building.

They knew Liberty had come to meet Kathryn again.

Marco was so angry that he considered ramming his car into Liberty’s. But two bodyguard cars were escorting Liberty, and with Duncan around, they didn’t dare to take any real action against her.

Even when Clarissa was alive, targeting Liberty wasn’t easy. Later, when Clarissa tried to harm Liberty, it was because she knew Mr. Jimenez was still alive, and she wanted to kill him.

In the end, Clarissa failed, and both she and Mr. Dunn died. With the mother gone, their once-powerful family finally fell apart.

Holden had no real influence, and even when Marco tried to use Holden to pressure Kathryn, it didn’t work. Kathryn didn’t show any respect toward Holden.

Liberty, from her car, noticed Marco and his brothers but didn’t stop or acknowledge them.

Of Clarissa’s four children, the only one Liberty cared for was Kathryn.

She didn’t pay any attention to Holden and his three sons.

Before coming to Jensburg, Liberty’s brother-in-law and aunt had thoroughly investigated Clarissa’s children. They gave Liberty all the information, except some details about Kathryn, to prepare her before arriving in Jensburg.

After Liberty’s car drove away, the three brothers parked and entered the company.

Ten minutes later, Kathryn was about to leave her office for a small meeting when the door burst open. Her secretary tried to stop the three brothers, but they pushed past him.

The secretary, looking apologetic, said, “Miss Farrell, Vice President Janzen insisted on seeing you. I couldn’t stop them.”

Kathryn, with a cold expression, replied, “I see. Head to the meeting room and let Mr. Ye lead the meeting for now. I’ll join in a bit.”

The secretary nodded and left.

Kathryn turned to the brothers and, without much warmth, said, “Come in.”

The three brothers followed her into her office.

Kathryn was still using her old office and hadn’t moved into her late mother’s. Since she had decided not to take over the family head position, there was no point in relocating.

“Take a seat. Do you want some water?” Kathryn asked. “There are fruits on the coffee table and snacks in the tea room. Pedro got them for me as afternoon tea.”

Without waiting for their response, she poured each of them a glass of warm water.

The brothers weren’t interested in the fruit or snacks.

Hearing Kathryn mention Pedro, Marco couldn’t hold back and asked, “Are you and Pedro in a relationship? He’s an orphan without parents. Can’t you find anyone else? Why choose him?”

Marco, a man who’d seen many things in life, noticed the way Pedro looked at Kathryn—with eyes full of affection.

Although they respected Pedro’s skills and were polite to him, they still looked down on him in their hearts. He wasn’t like Mr. Dunn, who was their mother’s trusted right-hand man and someone they had grown up with. Mr. Dunn was an elder they respected deeply.

Pedro, on the other hand, was of their generation, even younger than them, and they didn’t hold him in the same regard.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3762

Chapter 3762

Marco didn’t think much of Pedro. He was fine with Pedro being Kathryn’s assistant since it was arranged by their organization, and they couldn’t do anything about it. But he didn’t like the idea of Kathryn being in a relationship with Pedro.

To him, Pedro wasn’t good enough for Kathryn.

As her brother, Marco hoped Kathryn would marry someone powerful, someone they could rely on in the future.

Kathryn sat across from her brothers. She listened to Marco’s complaints, then calmly asked, “What’s wrong with Pedro? He’s better than all of you. Even though he’s an orphan, he has the skills to succeed on his own if he wants to.

Why shouldn’t I like Pedro? Mom trusted Pedro and even asked him to look out for me. You might doubt my judgment, but do you doubt Mom’s? Besides, this is my decision. I’ve made up my mind—it’s Pedro or no one.”

Even when Clarissa was alive, Kathryn was hard to control. Now that she was gone, her brothers had even less influence over her.

Kathryn firmly believed that her choice in marriage was hers alone, and no one else had the right to interfere.

“…Alright,” Marco finally said. “If Mom approved of him, I won’t argue. I just want the best for you. I think you could find someone better than Pedro, even if I introduced you to someone more accomplished.”

Kathryn replied, “Pedro is loyal and sincere. Those qualities mean more to me than money or power.”

Marco was at a loss for words.

“Kathryn,” Sage added, “We’re not here to meddle in your love life. You’ve always had strong opinions, and even when Mom was alive, she couldn’t change your mind. You never saw us as brothers anyway, so it’s not like we could tell you what to do even if we wanted to.”

He continued, “We came to talk to you about Mom’s inheritance and the Farrell family mansion. That mansion is our home. We were born there, grew up there, and even got married there. But now, you’ve let others take over as if they own the place, and they’re even shutting us out.

Mom’s barely gone, and you’re already letting these people push us aside. We’re your real brothers—your family. Even if we fight, we’re still blood.”

Noel, getting angrier, added to Sage’s words, blaming Kathryn for the situation.

Kathryn didn’t react angrily. She let them say what they needed to say. She understood their frustration, and it was no surprise that they were upset.

After they finished venting, Kathryn calmly stood up, picked up her coffee, and leaned against her desk, sipping it slowly.

Her calm reaction only made her brothers more upset.

When they finally ran out of steam, their mouths dry from all the shouting, they grabbed the glasses of water she’d offered earlier.

“Kathryn, don’t just stand there,” Marco said. “Tell us what you’re planning to do. Are you really going to let everything in the Farrell family slip away to them?”

“The conflicts of the past belong to the past,” Kathryn said. “I took over Mom’s role, not theirs, and I’m not trying to take anything from them. Why should I cling to everything Mom left behind?”

Married At First Sight Chapter 3763

Chapter 3763

Marco snapped at Kathryn, “Kathryn, have you ever thought about us? We’re your brothers. Even if we didn’t always treat you well before, we never actually did anything harmful to you, did we? Can’t you think about the family bond we share?

You’re making the Farrell family give up everything. What are we supposed to do now? We have no place in the company. Do you really think we stand a chance if Liberty takes over? She doesn’t need to use force to get rid of us; all she has to do is push us out of the company.

If word gets out, anyone who works with us or does business with us will automatically be seen as her enemy. She has the support of the three major families in Wiltspoon and is close with the Queen family in Jensburg. Who’s going to take the risk of working with your brothers then?

You can take care of yourself, but we aren’t as capable. We have families to support. Our kids need to go to school, which is expensive, and when they grow up, they’ll need money to buy houses and get married.

All of this costs a lot. You’re only worried about your reputation, not about us. What good is a spotless reputation if it doesn’t put food on the table?”

Kathryn calmly sat back down across from her brothers, her expression unchanged. “If there’s more to say, go ahead. I’m listening,” she said.

But in truth, she wouldn’t listen to them. Even when her mother was alive, Kathryn didn’t let anyone sway her choices. Her mother, who truly loved and cared for her, couldn’t change her mind back then, and her father and brothers certainly wouldn’t now.

She never told her brothers that her mother had once hinted that it was up to Kathryn to handle them after her passing. As a mother, she could never be completely harsh with her sons, no matter what they did.

Kathryn wasn’t heartless either. She was still willing to think about their family ties—as long as they didn’t cross the line. But if they pushed too far, she wouldn’t hesitate to stand up to them.

Marco, frustrated, pointed at Kathryn and shouted, “Kathryn, what’s with your attitude? We’ve been talking for your sake, for the sake of all of us, and you act like it doesn’t matter! I know you don’t see us as your brothers, but the Farrell family is what Mom built over decades. It’s her legacy.

As her children, it’s our duty to protect everything she left us, not just hand it away to someone else.

You’re giving up things that others would fight tooth and nail to get. Are you out of your mind, or are you deliberately trying to make our lives difficult?

Sure, you’ve got Pedro by your side, and you’ll be fine without the Farrell family. You’re not married, have no kids, and no real responsibilities, but what about us?

And why haven’t you done anything about Audrey? She banned us from coming home, and you said nothing. You know your words carry more weight than hers now. Mom’s antiques and jewelry are still at the mansion. Those belong to all of us, not just you. You have to make sure we get our share!”

Despite Marco’s angry outburst, Kathryn continued to sip her coffee calmly, letting him rant without reacting.

Her cool demeanor only made Marco and the other brothers even angrier.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3764

Chapter 3764

Sage suddenly stood up, took a few steps toward Kathryn, and tried to slap her, but failed.

Kathryn quickly grabbed Sage’s wrist with one hand.

Although she had never trained in martial arts—since her adoptive parents didn’t treat her well and wouldn’t allow her to—she had learned to defend herself from all the fights she got into when she was bullied. Her quick reflexes came from those experiences.

Then, Kathryn splashed the remaining coffee in her cup onto Sage’s face. Sage was caught off guard; he never expected Kathryn to grab his wrist so easily.

Sage knew that Kathryn had no martial arts training and usually relied on bodyguards for protection when she went out. Pedro was always by her side to ensure her safety, and he had even arranged for hidden security to guard her in secret.

In Kathryn’s office, with no one else around and even Pedro absent, Sage didn’t see Kathryn as a threat. Angry and looking to put her in her place, Sage didn’t think about the consequences.

He assumed Kathryn wouldn’t retaliate violently because of her strong sense of morality. Besides, Sage was still her brother, and they shared the same parents.

Even though there wasn’t much coffee left in Kathryn’s cup, it was enough to splash across Sage’s face and stain his white suit, making the mess stand out even more.

Kathryn’s voice turned cold. “Believe me when I say, if you touch me again, I’ll smash your head with a wine glass!”

“You think I’m weak, don’t you? I might not be trained to fight, but that doesn’t mean I’ll lose to you! But before you touch me, think about the consequences—can you handle them?” She let go of Sage’s wrist and continued, “Go sit down. You can yell at me all you want, but don’t try to hit me. If you do, don’t expect me to care about family loyalty.”

“We never had much of a bond to begin with,” Kathryn said, her gaze shifting to Marco. “You say I don’t treat you like brothers, but when have you ever treated me like a sister? Have you ever truly considered me family?”

“We’ve always just put on an act for Mom’s sake. So don’t lecture me about family ties or accuse me of not treating you like brothers. Ask yourselves—how have you treated me?”

“Don’t think you can boss me around just because you’re older. That doesn’t work with me. Everything that belonged to the Farrell family belongs to the family—it was Mom who took it, and it was never really hers to begin with, let alone ours. Before she died, she realized her mistake and apologized to our aunt.”

“I’m going to return what rightfully belongs to our aunt’s descendants. It’s my way of making amends on Mom’s behalf so she can rest in peace.”

“You’ve been in business for years and have your own real estate and rental properties. Even without the Farrell Group, you can live well off your income as long as you don’t mess things up. The rent you earn each month is more than what most people make. What more do you want?”

Kathryn thought her brothers already had a good life and didn’t understand why they demanded more.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3765

Chapter 3765

“If Mom hadn’t taken everything from our aunts, you wouldn’t have all this wealth now. You can do what you want with your personal assets, but when it comes to the rest, I’m in charge, and my decision is final. Even if Mom came back to life, she couldn’t change it, so neither can you.”

Kathryn looked at her three brothers and said, “I get it. I know you’re angry and frustrated, so if you want to vent and shout at me, go ahead. I can take it. I won’t hold it against you for that.

But don’t even think about going back to the Farrell family mansion to take antiques or valuable items to sell. Those things have been in the family for generations and are meant to stay that way. Nobody has the right to sell them.

Even Mom knew not to touch those things. So don’t listen to Dad’s schemes about selling them. That would be stealing, and if your cousin calls the police, you’ll be in serious trouble.

Don’t expect me to bail you out, and you can’t rely on Dad either. He’s always been more interested in what he could gain from the Farrell family for the Janzen family than anything else.”

Kathryn believed that Holden did have some feelings for Clarissa, but their marriage was far from genuine love. It was a deal filled with complications.

Clarissa’s heart belonged to someone else, Mr. Jimenez, long before she married Holden. Even after decades together, she never truly loved him. They stayed together mainly to have an heir.

But she never allowed Holden to betray her, and that made his life difficult. Still, it was his choice to marry her, so he had no one to blame. Clarissa didn’t force him into it.

Over the years, the Janzen family had benefited greatly from their connection to the Farrell family. Without that support, they might not have been as successful as they are today.

Kathryn saw her parents’ marriage as a business deal that just happened to last a lifetime.

“If you want to live a good life, follow my advice: leave the Farrell Group, sell your current house, and move farther away from the power center of the company. The farther, the better.

Don’t chase after things that aren’t meant for you. With the rent and income from your properties, even without a job, you can still support your family. Appreciate a simple life. Consider the wealth and status of the past few decades as just a dream.

I’m telling you this because we’re family. Whether you listen or not is up to you, but I won’t say it again.”

She showed her brothers a clear path, and it was up to them to decide whether to take it.

“If you keep to yourselves and don’t stir up trouble, Audrey and Liberty won’t come after you. You’ll have a stable life as long as you don’t provoke them. But if you act like Mom and always want more, I won’t have to tell you what will happen—it won’t end well.”

Clarissa’s unwillingness to let go and her desire for more was what led her to take her own life.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3766

Chapter 3766

The three brothers looked upset. Kathryn could tell from their faces that they hadn’t listened to a word she said.

They didn’t have the same willingness as Kathryn to return the Farrell family’s wealth to her aunt’s descendants. Maybe it was because Kathryn hadn’t grown up in the Farrell family—she’d only lived with them for a few years, and her relatives hadn’t treated her kindly. That made it easier for her to give back what wasn’t truly hers.

But her brothers were different.

They had grown up in the Farrell family, enjoying all the wealth and privilege that came with being the sons of the family, even though the tradition was to pass everything down to daughters.

Thanks to their mother’s position as head of the family, they still received plenty. They’d lived in that world of wealth and status for decades.

Letting go of all they had known was too hard for them. They weren’t ready to accept it, and they didn’t want to.

Kathryn sighed and said, “Eldest brother, you’re older than the others and understand the situation better. Think it over. Once you realize what’s best, try to convince our younger brothers. We can’t win against our cousins. Our side has lost all the support and trust in the family.

In this situation, it’s better to step back and give everything that belongs to our cousins. This might ease the tension and help us gain some trust back from the family. At least, it will show that we aren’t repeating the mistakes our mother made. We have to face reality.”

Feeling parched from talking, Kathryn got up, poured herself a glass of water, and sat back down. She said to her silent brothers, “I’ve said all I can. You do what you think is right.

I have a lot to take care of. Get back to your work. And if you’re not up to it, take some time off and help take care of Dad at the hospital.”

Kathryn then told her brothers to leave and added, “Don’t do anything foolish. Even Mom, with all her intelligence and plans, couldn’t get her way, so how could you? Think of your children.

Dad isn’t reliable, and I’m not close to you. If you get into trouble, don’t expect me to raise your kids. I’m not going to do that.”

The three brothers were stunned.

They thought their sister was harsh.

Kathryn’s nieces and nephews were her family too, yet she was still so unfeeling.

But they knew she meant every word she said.

The brothers exchanged looks. What could they do if their own sister refused to listen?

“I’m taking time off,” Marco said coldly.

Without waiting for Kathryn to respond, he stood up and stormed out, his face dark with anger. He looked like he could strangle Kathryn.

Why did their mother have to bring Kathryn back into the family in the first place? Why couldn’t she have just kept Shiloh and let the past stay as it was?

If they hadn’t switched daughters and had left Shiloh as the successor, they wouldn’t have to suffer this humiliation.

Shiloh would’ve stood by their side, fighting to keep everything their mother had built.

Their mother had run the Farrell Group for decades—why couldn’t it be passed on as her legacy to them?

Married At First Sight Chapter 3767

Chapter 3767

Marco believed that Clarissa must have regretted her decisions later. She regretted abandoning Shiloh and choosing Kathryn, a stubborn girl whose values were different from theirs.

Clarissa caused Shiloh’s death. She feared that Shiloh would compete with Kathryn, so she heartlessly killed her adopted daughter, whom she had raised for over 20 years.

As soon as Marco left, his two younger brothers followed him.

They walked behind Marco, turning to glare at Kathryn. After leaving the office, they caught up with Marco and asked, “Are we really going to take a leave of absence? Now that Mom is gone, the company is leaderless. If we don’t handle it, we might get kicked out soon.”

Noel whispered, “Didn’t Dad tell us to grab whatever we can now? We need to figure out how to get more money.”

Whether it was Kathryn or Liberty taking over, they knew they had to secure as much money as possible before leaving. After Clarissa’s death, staying at Farrell Group would be difficult.

Even if Kathryn took charge, they wouldn’t stay in Farrell Group.

Kathryn had always looked down on them for holding high positions without the skills to match, earning big salaries for doing little.

“Second brother, don’t say that kind of thing here,” Sage said, giving Noel a nudge and speaking softly.

There were cameras everywhere in the office.

If Kathryn checked the footage, she’d hear their conversation.

Marco took a deep breath and said, “It’s nearly the end of the year, and the company is super busy with urgent orders before the New Year holiday. Plus, with Mom gone, things are chaotic. But the messier it is, the more closely Kathryn will keep an eye on me. Let’s head to the hospital to see Dad first and update him on the situation.”

The three brothers got into the elevator.

Noel muttered bitterly, “We don’t even know if Kathryn is really one of us. How can she be so different from our family?”

Marco stayed silent for a moment before saying, “She is a true daughter of the Farrell family, unlike us. She takes after Mom in many ways, but she still has a conscience. She has a limit to how far she’ll go, unlike Mom.”

“Who can we blame for not being Farrells by blood, so we have to let her hold us back?” said Noel.

“Dad knows what kind of person Kathryn is, which is why he told us to take the valuables from the mansion before she and her Wiltspoon allies make their move.”

“I don’t get it. Even if she didn’t grow up with us and isn’t close to us, she’s been back for two or three years now. She barely knows those people from Wiltspoon. How could she side with them?”

“Mom died angry because Kathryn chose them over her.”

Sage said, “Why wasn’t it Kathryn who died? If Shiloh were still alive, Mom might still be here. Shiloh would have sided with Mom for sure. Mom tried to make a move against Liberty, but Kathryn warned Liberty in time.”

“Well, now Mom has completely lost. Kathryn doesn’t seem guilty at all. Isn’t she worried that Mom’s ghost will come after her?”

Marco looked at his brother and said, “Mom actually wanted to protect Kathryn. If she hadn’t been there that night, we might have been in big trouble. Mom always tried to give Kathryn a way out.”

“Mom ended her own life out of fear of the consequences, but really, she did it to save Kathryn. Once she knew her plans had failed, she couldn’t fight anymore. Kathryn begged her to stop making mistakes, and that’s why Mom took her own life.”

Married At First Sight Chapter 3768

Chapter 3768

“Mom knew that by taking her own life, she’d take the blame for everything. The people from Wiltspoon wouldn’t come after Kathryn, and Kathryn could stay safe in the Farrell family. Mom had already handed over her property to Kathryn. If Kathryn gets through this safely, she’ll take that money and leave.”

“With all that money, do you think she’s worried at all? Whether she invests it, makes more money, or just keeps it in the bank to earn interest, she’ll have enough to live comfortably for the rest of her life.”

“She’s not as helpless as we thought, especially with Pedro by her side. Pedro is as capable as Uncle Dunn. With his support, even if she makes blind investments, Pedro will make sure she comes out ahead.”

“What did Mom leave for us? Besides the small villa she gave us when we got married, a few properties, and some shops, is there anything else?”

“Mom had private assets, but we don’t know how much or what they are. She never told us if she changed her will. Right now, we have no idea.”

“Basically, after Mom passed away, we were left in the dark, not knowing anything.”

Noel and Sage fell silent, but they both resented Kathryn. They were also frustrated with their mother for not securing a better future for them.

As for their children, their mother had set up education funds for each grandchild years ago to ensure they’d get a good education. These funds could only be used for educational expenses.

They couldn’t touch that money. Once the kids graduated, any leftover funds would be returned to the Farrell family’s public education account to help other children in the family.

To stop parents from misusing the funds, there were strict rules. Every expense had to be backed by receipts, and any unapproved spending had to be paid back.

So, they never thought about using the education funds for themselves.

When their mother was alive, she always covered for them, whether they made bad investments, offended someone, or got into trouble. They never lacked money and didn’t need to touch their kids’ education funds.

The elevator reached the first floor.

When the door opened, the three brothers stopped talking. They straightened up, raised their heads, and confidently stepped out of the elevator.

Seeing them, some employees who were waiting to enter the elevator stepped aside to let them pass.

“Vice President Janzen,” the employees greeted.

The three brothers all held the same position in the company.

Before Kathryn returned to her birth family, they were doing quite well at work. Their sister Shiloh was close to them, and they had a lot of allies within the company.

Even after Kathryn joined the company, they still had support from many colleagues who tried to undermine her.

That was until Clarissa attended Zachary and Serenity’s wedding in Wiltspoon.

Clarissa’s decision to put Kathryn in charge gave Kathryn a lot of authority and put Pedro by her side, establishing her firmly as the successor.

After that, the colleagues who used to support the brothers gradually distanced themselves, stopped plotting against Kathryn, and the brothers’ influence in the company clearly declined.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3769

Chapter 3769

The Janzen brothers did try to save their position, but there wasn’t much they could do.

Farrell Group belonged to the Farrell family, not the Janzen family.

After Marco and his brothers left, the employees got into the elevator. They didn’t say anything out loud, but they all knew the Janzen brothers would be leaving Farrell Group sooner or later.

Everyone was aware that decades ago, President Farrell had eliminated her sisters to climb to the top. Now, her sister’s daughter and granddaughter were back, seeking revenge and aiming to take control.

It was clear that Farrell Group would soon have a new CEO.

For the employees, though, this change wouldn’t matter much. No matter who took over, it would still be someone from the Farrell family. As long as Farrell Group stayed in business, a change in leadership wouldn’t affect their jobs.

In fact, a new boss might even mean a pay raise.

Audrey, the eldest daughter of the previous family head, was now leading the Stone family in Wiltspoon. One of her granddaughters had married into the York family, the most influential family in Wiltspoon, and another was about to marry into the Lewis family. The Stones, Yorks, and Lewis families were all very powerful.

Now that Liberty was taking over Farrell Group, with the support of these wealthy families, the company’s future seemed even brighter.

The business was thriving, so there was no worry about layoffs. They might even hire more people soon.

Everyone hoped that with the new boss, more jobs would open up so they could recommend friends and family to join the company.

In the current tough job market, finding a secure and promising position wasn’t easy.

Shortly after, three cars drove out of the Farrell Group building and headed straight for the hospital.

Kathryn watched from her office window as the cars left. Her face was emotionless, but she knew the brothers were probably going to see their father.

Holden thought bringing the brothers in would pressure her.

How naive.

If she wasn’t intimidated by Holden, she certainly wasn’t going to bow down to her brothers.

She had even shown her brothers the right path to take, but they refused to listen. What else could she do?

In this situation, even if she took control of the Farrell family, her cousins would likely take it back soon. Why waste her time and energy?

Besides, it was never really hers to begin with.

She’d always said, if it wasn’t hers, she wouldn’t take it, but if it was hers, no one could take it from her.

Ten minutes later, the three brothers walked into Holden’s hospital room.

Holden was furious, scolding the nanny who was looking after him.

The nanny seemed upset but didn’t say a word. She stood there quietly, letting him vent his anger.

“Dad, what’s wrong? Your injury isn’t fully healed, don’t get so worked up,” Marco said, trying to calm his father down.

The nanny explained, “Sir, I gave your dad an apple after peeling it, but he didn’t hold it properly, and it fell. He blamed me for not waiting until he had a firm grip before letting go. I picked it up, washed it, and offered to peel another one, but he didn’t want it.”

She looked hurt, clearly feeling unjustly blamed.

It was such a minor issue.

Holden, however, was furious enough to curse as if it was a major offense.

“It’s okay, you can take a break. We’ll talk to Dad,” Marco said gently to the nanny. “He’s been through a lot, with Mom’s passing, and he’s not in the best mood right now. Please be patient with him.”

As he spoke, Marco pulled out his wallet and handed the nanny a small stack of cash, probably around a few hundred to a thousand dollars, as a gesture of appreciation.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3770

Chapter 3770

“Auntie, I know my dad has a tough temper, and you take care of him every day. You’ve been working hard, so consider this a little extra for you—a bonus,” Marco said.

The nanny accepted the money from Marco without hesitation, thanked him, and left. Though she’d been unfairly scolded, the extra cash made it easier for her to let it go.

Ever since Holden was caught cheating by Clarissa, he acted obedient in front of her, but his attitude was completely different toward the nannies. He’d often lose his temper, and if even the smallest thing didn’t go his way, he’d scold them or even ask the butler to fire them. One nanny had even quit after being yelled at by Holden.

“Why’d you give her money?” Holden grumbled to Marco. “She let go of the apple before I could hold it, and it fell to the dirty floor. Even if they mop the floor every day, it’s still full of germs.”

Holden continued, “You should watch your spending from now on. Only spend money when you need to. Your mother isn’t around to cover for you anymore. By the way, did you handle what I asked you to do?”

Marco dragged a chair over and sat down. “Dad, it’s obvious we didn’t succeed. We can’t even get into the house, and everyone at the company is watching us closely. It’s not like before when people actually listened to us.”

Holden’s face darkened. “Kathryn’s stubborn and won’t listen to a word I say. Did you at least ask her about your mother’s will?”

“…I forgot,” Marco said, looking embarrassed. “She made me so mad that I completely lost track of things.”

“Don’t worry about your mom’s private property,” Holden said. “They won’t be able to take that from us. Our concern is that Kathryn won’t share it with us. That girl always acts like she’s fair and just, but when I see her, I just want to slap her.”

“Focus on getting your mom’s private property first,” Holden instructed. “Find her lawyer and see if your mom changed her will. If she didn’t, then make sure Kathryn follows the will and gives you your share.”

Marco nodded. “We’ll talk to the lawyer and ask for a proper share of mom’s inheritance.”

Holden then asked, “Have those people from Wiltspoon made any moves yet?”

“No, not really,” Marco replied. “Most of them have gone back home. Only Audrey, her husband, that old man Jimenez, Liberty, Kevin, and Duncan are still around.”

Holden thought for a moment. “It’s probably because the New Year is coming up, and out of respect for your mom’s passing, they’re staying quiet for now. But once the New Year’s over, they’ll likely act. We still have a bit of time.”

He added, “For now, focus on pushing Kathryn to share your mom’s private property. You might not be able to get into the Farrell family mansion during the day, but you can always sneak in at night.”
