Married At First Sight Chapter 3711

Chapter 3711

Holden had been present when Clarissa made her will, and at the time, he didn’t dare to object. The will stated that if Clarissa passed away before him, half of her private property would go to Kathryn, her biological daughter, who was to take over the family business. The remaining half would be divided equally among their three sons.

Shiloh was left out. The will only mentioned that before they discovered Shiloh wasn’t part of the Farrell family, she didn’t have to return what she had received and could continue using it. As for Holden, Clarissa’s husband, he wasn’t given anything directly. Instead, the will stated that his three sons would support him in the future. How much pocket money they gave him was up to them, not Clarissa.

After a long silence, Holden said, “Even if everything is divided as your mother wanted, you’re still my child. Don’t you have to take care of me in my old age?”

Kathryn replied, “I never said I wouldn’t support you, Dad. If my brothers can’t do it, I’ll make sure you have enough money to live on. I won’t let you starve.”

Kathryn wouldn’t abandon her father in his retirement, but this had nothing to do with her taking over the Farrell family business. She added, “Whether or not I take over the business has nothing to do with supporting you. Even without it, I can afford your expenses. You have four children. Are you really worried we can’t support you?”

Holden, frustrated, responded, “It’s not just about giving me a few hundred dollars a month. I want to live in a big villa, with a luxury car, and have servants to take care of me. I’m old, and life isn’t easy. I need more than one servant—several, actually. If you don’t take over the family business, where will you get the money for all this? How much of your mother’s property do you think you’ll get, even if she favored you?”

Holden wasn’t sure how much private property Clarissa had, but he assumed it was a lot. After taking control of the family, Clarissa had worked hard to privatize much of the family’s assets. Holden guessed it must be worth hundreds of millions, maybe even billions.

As he thought about all that money, resentment toward Clarissa flared up again. Why should he feel sad? He had been under her control for decades. Now that she was gone, he should feel relief, not grief.

His main concern now was to secure his own benefits. If he couldn’t claim Clarissa’s wealth, at least he could expect his children to treat him like the patriarch of the Farrell family. The real frustration was that he had made himself an eunuch, or else he could’ve found another partner.

Kathryn looked at him for a moment before speaking. “If you’re asking about my mother’s personal wealth, there isn’t much. But over the years, she gradually merged the family business with her personal assets, so there is a significant amount.”

“My mother killed both my aunts. My younger aunt had no children, so there’s no one to compensate. But my eldest aunt had descendants. As my mother’s daughter, even though she’s gone, I feel obligated to make amends to my eldest aunt’s family.”

Hearing this, Holden’s expression darkened. He glared at Kathryn and snapped, “Are you trying to drive me to my grave? You’re going to give all your mother’s wealth to Audrey and her family?”

Married At First Sight Chapter 3712

Chapter 3712

“Your mother worked tirelessly for the Farrell family for decades. Even though her position as the head of the family was taken from her, her contributions are undeniable. Whether or not she was successful, she put in the effort. The property she has now is well-earned.

Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because she’s gone. If you dare to give away her property to Audrey and others, I can’t stop you, but your three brothers can sue you.”

Kathryn remained calm and said, “If nothing extreme had happened, we would all just divide the property according to her will.”

Holden grew uneasy and asked cautiously, “What do you mean? Didn’t your mother leave everything to you? Did she change her will later on?”

Kathryn didn’t answer directly. Before, Clarissa had wanted to send her away and had even brought Pedro over to entrust everything to him, telling Kathryn to take her wealth and leave. Kathryn hadn’t followed through with her mother’s request, but she suspected Clarissa may have altered her will after that.

After arranging her mother’s funeral, Kathryn had to calm the concerns of both the family and the company. While everyone was working as usual, there were whispers about who would take over the Farrell Group. Kathryn wasn’t in a hurry to deal with Clarissa’s estate. If Holden hadn’t brought it up, she wouldn’t have focused on it just yet.

Later, she would ask a lawyer to review the will and see if Clarissa had changed it or left everything to her. Regardless, Kathryn felt responsible for compensating her aunt’s descendants, knowing her mother owed them that much.

Many of Clarissa’s assets had been taken from the company, and some of the family’s charity funds were privatized by her. Kathryn didn’t intend to keep any of this; she planned to return it all to Audrey. Whatever Audrey did with it would be her choice.

“Dad, I won’t keep it all. My three brothers still have their share. I know they haven’t treated me well, but we are still siblings. They’re in their thirties and aren’t very capable. Without the Farrell Group, they’ll struggle. Even though they have their own businesses, the income isn’t much, and they still need to support their families.

So, I’ll make sure they get their share. What I do with mine is up to me. I know you can’t force me to change my mind.”

Holden understood that Kathryn might seem fragile, but she was tough, just like her mother. The only difference was that Kathryn was fair and reasonable. Once she made a decision, not even Clarissa could have changed it. Just like how Clarissa had tried to send Kathryn away several times, yet she always returned, much to her mother’s frustration.

Kathryn added, “Dad, focus on getting better. When you’re well, you can leave the hospital and come home for the New Year. My brothers are grown men. Even if they aren’t wealthy, they have more than most people could ever dream of. As long as they live honestly, they’ll be fine.”

Married At First Sight Chapter 3713

Chapter 3713

Kathryn didn’t know exactly how much money her three brothers had. Even though her mother thought they were useless, she still helped them make money while she was alive. Kathryn guessed they were worth tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions.

With that kind of money, how could they complain about being poor? What could they possibly be worried about?

Still, if Kathryn didn’t take control of the Farrell family, her brothers might not survive in Jensburg. They weren’t capable and had always relied on the Farrell Group and their mother’s protection. But with new leadership, no one would shield them anymore, and the Farrell Group wouldn’t let them behave as they pleased.

Even if Kathryn took charge, she wouldn’t allow the Farrell Group to cover for her brothers. Plus, Audrey’s side of the family had always been at odds with theirs. Whether Audrey or Liberty took control, her brothers would have a hard time.

If they were smart, they’d sell off their assets, turn them into cash, and leave Jensburg. That way, they could still keep some of their wealth. If not, they’d end up with nothing and might even be forced to live on the streets.

Kathryn wasn’t feeling generous enough to constantly support her brothers. She wasn’t going to sacrifice herself for them.

“Why compare yourself to ordinary people? You’re special!” Holden urged. He didn’t want to let go of his wife’s wealth and wanted to fight for his sons. Softening his tone, he said, “Kathryn, I know you’re kind. You feel like your mother made mistakes. Sure, she wasn’t perfect, but she was still your mother.

“If she knew what you were doing, she’d be furious. You’ve got so many nieces and nephews. What if your brothers run out of money? You know they’re not very capable, so don’t act rashly.

“Audrey’s family and the others aren’t short on money. Audrey is married into the Stone family, which is second only to the York family in Wiltspoon. Liberty’s sister is the eldest lady of the York family, the richest in Wiltspoon, worth hundreds of billions.

“They’re all wealthier than our Farrell Group. They won’t even care about the little compensation you offer. And do you really think they’ll forgive your mother just because you give them money?

“Kathryn, you and they are enemies. There will never be peace. Audrey’s mother was killed by your mother, and Audrey and her family forced your mother’s death. Your parents and their family are sworn enemies.

“So why be soft-hearted? They won’t appreciate it.”

Holden handed Kathryn a cup. “Pour some water for your dad. I’ve talked so much, and now I’m thirsty.”

Kathryn poured him a cup of warm water without complaint. As she did, she overheard him calling Marco.

She didn’t care.

What could he tell Marco? Marco didn’t have the authority to make decisions for her. Until Audrey or Liberty took over, Kathryn was in charge of the Farrell family.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3714

Chapter 3714

Marco couldn’t change Kathryn’s decisions, and she wasn’t afraid of pressure from her father or brothers. If she couldn’t handle that, she didn’t deserve to be the head of the Farrell family.

Holden didn’t say much on the phone, just asked Marco to come to the hospital. Once Kathryn poured him a cup of water, he hung up.

Kathryn acted as if she hadn’t noticed and handed him the cup. Holden, feeling parched from all his efforts to convince her, drank it all in one go.

Holden said, “Kathryn…”

But Kathryn interrupted, “Dad, enough. I can take care of everything. As your children, we are responsible for supporting you. I’ll match whatever my brothers give each month. You won’t go hungry, but the rest is up to your sons.”

Their mother’s will clearly left Holden’s care to the three brothers. Kathryn would chip in based on her mood.

“Dad, rest well. I need to head back to the company—things have been unstable lately,” she said, turning to leave.

“Kathryn!” Holden called out. When she turned to him, he warned, “If you dare hand over everything, I’ll never forgive you! Remember, I’m your father!”

Kathryn smiled sarcastically. “Dad, you don’t get to control me. Mom couldn’t, and you certainly can’t.”

Holden shouted, “You think I’m scared? I won’t let you go!”

Kathryn replied, “Yes, you’re my father. But so what? I’m a Farrell, and I’ll be the head of this family if I choose to. You don’t get a say in that.”

She walked back to his bedside, leaned in close, and locked eyes with him, making her determination clear.

“Dad, listen carefully. You couldn’t control Mom when she was alive, and you can’t control me now that she’s gone. Just because I’m your daughter doesn’t mean you can tell me what to do.”

Kathryn sneered, “Do you know why Mom shot you? She knew exactly what you’d do. She knew that once she was gone, you’d try to boss me around and hold me back. She was right about you. You barely survived, and now you’re already trying to control me.”

She continued, “Dad, I’m Clarissa’s daughter. You know what kind of person she was. I’ve inherited most of her traits. You’ll get your monthly allowance out of respect for our father-daughter bond. But if you don’t appreciate it, don’t expect me to be kind.

Oh, and let’s be honest—we never really had a father-daughter bond. Your love went to your sons and Shiloh, not me, your real daughter. If you push me too far, life won’t be easy for any of you. I won’t kill anyone like Mom did, but I’ll make sure you regret it.”

Kathryn straightened up, ignoring the shock on Holden’s face. Coldly, she said, “Dad, the decision you made with Mom when you found out Mr. Jimenez was alive was probably the smartest one.”

Married At First Sight Chapter 3715

Chapter 3715

“Dad, get some rest. Don’t ruin your life, and don’t ruin your three sons’ lives either. Don’t push me, because I have no patience left for you!” Kathryn said before turning and walking out.

Holden wanted to call out to her, but no words came. He could only watch her leave with anger and resentment.

Once Kathryn was out of sight, Holden cursed, “Ungrateful daughter! That horrible Clarissa gave me this ungrateful daughter!”

“How dare she speak to her father like that! Doesn’t she fear karma?”

“If you don’t listen to your father, you’ll regret it later. She’ll lose all the benefits she’s worked for. I’ve never seen such a fool!” Holden was furious that Kathryn ignored his advice and spoke to him so harshly, but he couldn’t do anything about it.

Kathryn’s strength reminded him too much of her mother. At first, Holden thought Kathryn was spoiled. Even though Shiloh’s biological parents hadn’t treated Kathryn well, Kathryn still managed to stand strong. Now, Shiloh’s relatives were too scared to even approach Kathryn.

Shiloh’s death must have taught them a lesson. Only the old butler had been punished for what happened to Shiloh, and the rest were spared because Kathryn acknowledged they had raised her. But if they tried to take advantage of her now, they would face the same fate as Shiloh.

As for Shiloh, whom the Farrell family had raised for over 20 years, they had given up on her. No one dared to test the Farrell family’s patience again.

Kathryn walked out of the hospital’s inpatient department.

Pedro was waiting at the door. When he saw Kathryn, he walked over and draped a coat over her shoulders, saying, “It’s cold outside. You should wear something warmer.”

“I’m not cold,” Kathryn replied, but she still accepted his gesture.

They walked toward the hospital parking lot together.

Pedro asked, “Did things not go well with Mr. Janzen? You didn’t look happy when you came out.”

Kathryn was quiet for a while before answering, “My mother’s past worries weren’t for nothing.”

Pedro realized that Holden had tried to take advantage of her. “Did Mr. Janzen make unreasonable demands?”

“Not unreasonable,” Kathryn replied, “but our relationship isn’t like a normal father and daughter. He doesn’t care about me, and I don’t care about him.”

Pedro opened the car door, and after Kathryn got in, she removed the coat he’d given her. Once Pedro joined her inside, she continued, “My dad wants to divide the assets my mom left behind. But in her will, she made it clear that her personal property wouldn’t go to him. She must have never fully trusted him, worrying he’d use her assets on other women.”

“My mom didn’t want her wealth benefiting anyone else. Even when my dad moved into the house, he had no real authority in the Farrell family. She was strong-willed, and he had no say. Despite his frustrations, he couldn’t challenge her.”

“My mom’s will stated that my three brothers would take care of him in his old age, but I think she changed her mind later. Now, with everything going on, I’m overwhelmed and haven’t had time to address her estate.”

Chapter 3716

Pedro nodded and said, “When Mrs. Farrell asked me to come, she told me to take you and all her assets, leave Jensburg, and start fresh somewhere where no one knows us.”

He also believed Clarissa had later revised her will.

“Mr. Fraser, I want to leave part of my mother’s inheritance to my three brothers for their future, and give the rest as compensation to my cousins. Do you think this is the right thing to do?”

“My mother wronged my aunt, and my cousin’s tragedy was indirectly caused by her. As her daughter, I feel it’s my duty to pay off those debts for her. I also want to compensate the families of those who knew about the murder my mother committed. She’s gone now, and I don’t want to argue whether she was right or wrong.”

Kathryn spoke softly, “I just want to do what I can to make peace with it.”

Pedro said, “No matter what you decide, I support you. Your well-being is my priority. If you need anything, just ask.”

Seeing Pedro’s loyalty, Kathryn trusted him even more. She had developed feelings for him and didn’t want to repeat her parents’ mistakes.

“Mr. Fraser, please start calling me by my name, not ‘Miss.’ Soon, I won’t be part of the Farrell family anymore, and none of this will have anything to do with me. If my cousin Audrey can’t accept me, I’ll move my business out of Jensburg.”

“After leaving, I’ll only return to Jensburg for the Lantern Festival to honor my mother. Other than that, I’ll stay away to avoid making my cousins unhappy.”

As Pedro started driving, he said, “I doubt Mrs. Stone and the others will push you out of Jensburg. Your business is here, and as long as they don’t target you, you don’t need to leave.”

Audrey and the others still had a good opinion of Kathryn, though Clarissa’s past actions created some distance.

“Mrs. Farrell is gone, and you’re not responsible for what happened decades ago. At that time, she wasn’t even married yet. Let’s see how things unfold in Wiltspoon.”

Kathryn pressed her lips together and said, “I know they won’t force me to leave, but I’d feel too ashamed to stay. Not just around my cousins, but everyone in the clan. If my cousins hadn’t stepped in, and my mother’s plan had succeeded, many lives would’ve been lost. That night, the clan members she invited were all capable people, and my mother couldn’t stand their success.”

Even if her mother wanted to clear the path for her, Kathryn couldn’t condone what she did to the clan.

“I’ll take it one step at a time. If I do stay, I won’t be in the city center. I’ll focus on running my company. My dad doesn’t agree with me giving away what’s in the Farrell family, but it doesn’t belong to me. What I’m giving away is what my mom took from my aunt and passed on to my cousin.”

“I can’t be as indifferent as my mom. Besides, with my abilities, I can’t compete with my cousin and their supporters. They have too many powerful connections.”

Kathryn added, “When I first met my cousin, I told her that once the truth was revealed, I would return what wasn’t mine. I meant it, and I’ll follow through.”

Chapter 3717

Pedro repeated himself: “Kathryn, no matter what you decide, I will support you completely. Even if you don’t take over the Farrell family business, your own private assets are impressive, and your companies are doing very well.”

Pedro was aware of Kathryn’s private holdings and how her companies were thriving. Even after she returned to the Farrell family, she rarely checked in on them, yet they continued to run smoothly.

The woman Pedro vowed to protect for life was truly remarkable. She didn’t need to inherit her family’s wealth—her own hard work was enough to build her success.

What Pedro admired most was Kathryn’s confidence.

“You’ll always have me,” Pedro added.

With him by her side, Kathryn’s success would only grow.

Kathryn looked at him for a long time and smiled.

“When I first came back, I regretted it. I thought I shouldn’t have returned to the Farrell family because I didn’t fit in. But when you came into my life, I was glad I switched places with Shiloh. Otherwise, you would have ended up with her. Pedro, I’m so glad you’re mine!”

She could let go of the Farrell family, but she wanted to keep Pedro.

Pedro smiled, “This is our destiny.”

Kathryn continued, “Yes, it is. When all of this is over, Pedro, shall we get married?”

They hadn’t gone through a traditional courtship or spoken romantic words, but they knew how they felt about each other.

Pedro’s smile deepened, and he said, “First, I’ll propose, then we’ll get engaged. After some time, if you’re still sure, we’ll get married. I just don’t want you to meet someone better and regret choosing me.”

They didn’t need to discuss love like other couples—they understood each other perfectly.

Pedro was confident but still wanted to give Kathryn time to think.

Kathryn thought for a moment and said, “Since you’re not in a rush, let’s date like a normal couple first. If you don’t find someone else and I don’t change my mind, we can get engaged and then married.

You don’t need to stick with me all the time. You can meet other women and see if someone else catches your eye. If you like someone at a social event, go after her. I won’t stand in your way.”

At most, she’d feel hurt, but if that happened, she’d simply stop believing in love and wouldn’t want to marry. She didn’t have to follow the Farrell family rules or have a daughter to continue the legacy. She could remain single and raise a child on her own.

Pedro responded seriously, “Kathryn, I would never do that. You are the only one in my heart. No matter how amazing other women may be, that’s their business, not mine. I only care about you.

Don’t say things like that. If you don’t want to marry me, I’ll still be your assistant for life. But please don’t push me toward other women. We assistants don’t marry unless it’s with the person we serve. It’s a rule I must follow, whether or not you become the head of the family.”

Kathryn had her own rules to follow.

Pedro had his as well. If he broke them, he’d be hunted down by the base.

After more than 20 years of training, Pedro knew how powerful the base was. If he ever crossed the line, no one could save him—not even the gods.

He wasn’t willing to take that risk.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3718

Chapter 3718

Pedro had been trained for loyalty since childhood, and it was deeply ingrained in him. He had always said that his life belonged to Kathryn, both in life and in death.

“Okay, I shouldn’t have said that,” Kathryn responded calmly.

Pedro had shown his loyalty many times, so it made sense that he would be upset by her words.

“Let’s just let things happen naturally, Pedro. We don’t need to force anything,” Kathryn added.

She wasn’t young anymore, and if she wanted to get married, it was the right time. Pedro, a few years older than her, was in his early thirties.

Kathryn thought that if they really did get married, they could get their marriage certificate after the new year and have a baby the following year, fulfilling that part of their lives and focusing on their careers.

“Pedro,” Kathryn suddenly asked, “Do you know how to take care of a baby?”

Pedro hesitated and said, “Well, I’ve never done it before, but it shouldn’t be that hard.”

Kathryn wondered if they were thinking about having a baby too soon. “After we have a baby, you might need to be the nanny for a while. I’ll be busy with work. You can’t help with the pregnancy, but you can help with the baby.”

Pedro smiled. “No problem, I’ll be the nanny, and you can be the breadwinner.”

Kathryn smiled too. “We won’t lack the money to raise the baby. I just want my company to keep growing. As the business expands, one of us will need to make sacrifices for the family. When the baby starts kindergarten, we’ll get a break. Do you prefer a son or a daughter?”

Pedro replied, “As long as it’s our child, I’ll love them, boy or girl. I won’t favor one over the other, and you shouldn’t feel pressured about it.”

“I don’t feel pressured about having a son. I used to worry about having a daughter, but not anymore. Now, I’m free from that burden.”

Kathryn leaned back, feeling liberated. She wouldn’t be taking over the Farrell family, which meant she didn’t have to follow their rules.

As she looked out the window, she noticed a familiar car passing by in the opposite lane. She turned her head to follow it.

Pedro asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Check if that car belongs to my eldest brother. If it does, my dad must have called him. But it doesn’t matter—my brother can’t control me.”

Kathryn was sometimes grateful she didn’t grow up with her biological parents and didn’t have strong emotional ties to them. It allowed her the freedom to do as she pleased without feeling obligated to her family.

If she had grown up with them, it would have been harder to make decisions independently, and she would have had to consider her father and brothers’ feelings.

Meanwhile, Marco was on his way to the hospital, confused about why Holden had called him there. He wondered if his father’s condition had worsened. The doctor had said the bullet was removed, and Holden’s life wasn’t in danger, despite some blood loss.

Marco didn’t want to lose his father after already losing his mother. When he arrived at the hospital, he parked his car and rushed into the ward.

He saw Holden sitting up with a pillow behind him, and the servant was washing some grapes. Relieved, Marco asked, “Dad, why did you call me in such a hurry? I thought something had happened to you.”

The servant greeted Marco respectfully and said, “The young lady just left.”

Marco was surprised. “Kathryn was here?”

Since Holden was injured, Kathryn hadn’t visited, and Marco thought she didn’t care about their father.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3719

Chapter 3719

Holden signaled for the servant to leave.

He then told Marco to watch the servant exit. Once the servant was gone, Marco closed the door to the ward, sat back down, and grabbed a few grapes from the fruit plate.

“Dad, has Kathryn said anything about taking over?” Marco asked.

Since his mother’s death, Marco believed it was time for Kathryn to step up.

“The whole company is waiting. I don’t know what her plan is. Even though we’re not at war, a company is like a kingdom. Just like a kingdom can’t go without a ruler for a day, we can’t run the company without a leader,” Marco said.

Holden frowned and replied bitterly, “Don’t even talk about her taking over. Kathryn doesn’t see things the way we do. She upset your mother countless times while she was alive. If she weren’t her biological daughter, we’d have buried her by now.

Kathryn wants to return everything that belongs to the Farrell family, including your mother’s estate. She even said she’d give it away to Audrey and others. Can you believe how foolish she is?”

Marco shouted, “How is that possible! I understand if she doesn’t want to take over the family, but my mother’s estate belongs to all of us. She doesn’t get to decide that on her own.

She’s way too generous. If she wants to compensate those people, she should use her own money, not ours.

Dad, didn’t you stop her? Sure, my mother became head of the family after my aunt’s death, but she held that position for decades and named a successor. Now that she’s gone, it’s Kathryn’s responsibility to take over. But you’re right, Dad—Kathryn’s not on our side.”

Marco felt a burning desire to confront Kathryn.

Holden added, “Exactly. And she even had the nerve to warn me. She said your mom shot me because she didn’t want me to pressure her with demands. Plus, your mom made a will, but I have no idea if she later changed it. If she left everything to Kathryn, we won’t get a dime.”

Thinking about that, Holden cursed Clarissa, who had only just died, in his mind.

She had hurt a lot of people.

Marco reassured him, “Dad, don’t worry. My mother was the biological mother of all three of us brothers. She wouldn’t change her will to leave everything to Kathryn. I’ll go ask Lawyer Tait if the will was changed. If not, we’ll divide it as originally planned.”

Still, Marco realized that even with the original plan, Kathryn would inherit more than they would.

He cursed Kathryn again, but only in front of Holden, never to her face. He knew Kathryn was just like his mother in some ways.

Married At First Sight Chapter 3720

Chapter 3720

Marco still felt shaken when he remembered that night. Thankfully, Clarissa’s pistol only had a few bullets; otherwise, she might have shot them. Clarissa always favored Kathryn as if she were her own child.

“I hope not,” Holden said. “But Marco, I don’t think they’ve made any decisions yet. The New Year is around the corner, and the company will be on break soon. Everything will be decided after the New Year. In the meantime, you and your brothers should take advantage of your positions at the company and secure as much as you can.

Also, go back to the mansion quickly. Your mother had a lot of valuable jewelry. Make sure to take it all, along with any other valuable items in the house.

You don’t need to worry about the bigger items. Every head of the Farrell family lives in the mansion, and some things are fixed and can’t be moved. But your mother’s collection of calligraphy, paintings, and antiques are worth a fortune, so you should take them.

Kathryn isn’t bluffing. The four of us—father and sons—may not get any of your mother’s estate. The jewelry, art, and antiques are all we can take for now. Selling them will give us more than enough money to live on for the rest of our lives.”

Holden didn’t know how long his sons would need the money, but for him, it would be plenty. He was in his seventies and figured he had, at most, ten more years. The money from selling those valuables would allow him to live comfortably.

Clarissa’s collection included authentic works from master artists, which were extremely valuable. Her antiques were also worth a lot.

Altogether, selling everything could easily bring in hundreds of millions. Not to mention the jewelry. Even strong women like Clarissa loved jewelry. Many of her pieces were family heirlooms, passed down from previous heads of the Farrell family, making them even more valuable than anything on the market today.

Marco’s eyes lit up at first, but then his face fell. “Dad, we’re not allowed to enter the mansion anymore, except for Kathryn.”

“What do you mean?” Holden asked, shocked.

“Mrs. Stone has stationed guards there and even sent people inside. All the servants have been replaced, and even the butler has been removed,” Marco explained.

Holden was speechless. “Why is she doing that?”

Marco didn’t respond.

Audrey, whose surname was Farrell, was the eldest daughter of the previous Matriarch. She should have been the head of the family, but Marco’s mother prevented her from taking over. Now, Audrey was back to reclaim everything.

With Clarissa and Mr. Dunn both dead, the outcome was clear.

The Farrell family was returning to the descendants of the previous Matriarch. Marco and his family no longer had control over the mansion—they were no longer the owners.

Although Audrey or Liberty hadn’t officially taken over the family yet, it was almost certain they would.

Even the attitude of the clan members toward them had turned sour.

Marco was furious.

A Farrell clan member had said, “Your mother tried to burn us alive, and you still expect us to welcome you with open arms?”

Holden was livid. His own daughter, Kathryn, wouldn’t listen to him and even threatened him. That was one thing, but not being able to take his wife’s jewelry, art, and antiques—that was a loss of hundreds of millions!

Holden felt like his heart was bleeding.

Marco, full of regret, said, “We can’t take any money from the company—that would be embezzlement, and we’d end up in jail. It’s our fault for not listening to you earlier, Dad. If we had, we could have packed everything up and left for home sooner, maybe even gotten more.”

It was too late now. Fortunately, they still had some assets and a small business under their name.

They owned a few houses for rent and a handful of stores in their hometown. They could make a living from collecting rent, but their carefree days of spending without limits were over.

When Clarissa was alive, Marco thought she was too strict, always controlling and scolding them. Now that she was gone, he realized life had been better with her around.

Even though she favored Kathryn, she was never unfair to her three sons, especially when it came to material things.
